Well deserved gold, medal, and , well deserve bronze for Jake . Difficult for all the athletes, coming from the world championship , with the little recovery time, and Jake has the European championship next week.
How do you get revenge over a disappointing World Champs? By regrouping a fortnight later to beat the current & former World Champions in a Games Record. Stoked for Olli, pure class!
Sensational effort by Ollie Hoare in a class field. All your hard work has paid off Ollie, making us proud and putting 1500 back in the spotlight where it always belonged. Great upload Runners Unite.
Underrated performance by Cheruiyot. He’s definitely the class of any 1500 race he’s in, always ensuring it’s fast and giving it an honest pace from the start. I think a lot of Jakob’s racing tactics and strengths can be attributed to his rivalry with Cheruiyot in the years leading up to the Olympics.
What a fooking brilliant finish... you stick with the leaders.. and then at the last moment... kick it out and go for gold... Mate.. Ollie Ollie Ollie, oi oi oi... well done you done every one proud, especially your Pop who gave you that last push..
Ollie is awesome, so happy for him. He is one of those rare runners who can either win a championship race or come in last place in that same race. It's hard to figure out, but if he ever figures this out and is more consistent he would be incredible, maybe 2nd only to Jakob.
I still believe to this day that if Ollie would have made it to the finals in the World Champs last year he would have been a gold medal contender. After his second place finish at the Pre Classic and after his 3:47 mile I thought the win in the 1500m was gonna be between him and Jakob and then Jake Wightman surprised me. huge congrats to him tho. I feel like he will be a huge threat in this years World Championship
I hate middle distance running but this was one of the two best 1500m races I have ever seen. The other one was only two weeks ago at the World Championships! Epic stuff. Too bad there aren’t more like that.
As an Aussie watching this, two things stood out. The first? The commentators overwhelming love for Jake Wightman. He had him winning the gold before the race, it was gold at the 400m mark, then the 800. The commentator had Jake Wightman winning gold at every point in this race and then the Aussie won. The second thing that stood out? THE AUSSIE WON!!! 😍😍😍😍😍😍
@@johnstirling6597 Yes, he knows a thing or two about running, but even the most intelligent and knowledgeable of us can sometimes get just a tad carried away and can be a just a tad biased toward our own folk. I'm a Kiwi, by the way, and I honestly did get just a teeny-weeny bit annoyed by the commentary. There was a point where someone was pointing out that they were, of course, all just playing into Wightman's hands. At that point I started arguing with him. I started almost shouting at him in an Aussie accent: "Ya reckon do ya, mate?" "Bollocks ya silly bugger!"
@@Sqid101 Likewise, me a Kiwi, (have not lived in NZ for 40 years). I was always on the Ollie train, if you know a bit of his back story this was always going to be his make or break moment considering recent events, a shame Stewart McSweyn was not in the field, but still would have backed Ollie. I didn't think Wightman could back up in 2 major champs so close together, was really happy to see Sam Tanner run the time he did, great future for him. Geordie Beamish should have been in the 1500 not the 5k. There you have it. 😁😁
You are stupid You take objection to a British TV commentator calling for a British audience ? Why ? doesn't Australian TV call for an Australian audience ? I rather think they do ( and some would say excessively so )
Can't believe these commentators early, not a mention of Hoare who has had some pretty big results over the last couple of years....Games record not done since 1958,....where are the silly Aussie Media!...lol!
We are robbers, liars, adulterers, sinners, when we go to the court, the only way to pay for what we did is to go to prison (you can’t do good deeds to repay the bad you’ve already done, you have to face the consequences of your actions), if our sin was done against a policeman, the time spent in prison will be higher; judge higher, president; higher, the punishment against God is eternal prison, but if we have someone that will pay our debt we will be set free and this person is Jesus Christ. If you accept in your heart that He died for your sins, today, you will be saved and you’ll never be able to lose your salvation.
The crowd was fantastic for the athletics, but the BBC coverage ,was not, because most of the event was not shown on the main channels , and swimming seem to dominate the main channels.and why the European championship was the best coverage last year
what horrible, horrible, horrible camera coverage. we didn't get to see the race until 3:38 of a 4:10 video. what did they think we were going to be able to see by putting the camera is the racers' faces? we're trying to watch a race, not chariots of fire. easy thumb down.
It's going to be australia 🇦🇺 the gold !!!.....quote Steve cram...ps...brilliant you meet Filbert Bayi....he was the type of runner you respect.....hard and fast. 🪃🎖🏆🦉🙂
I loved everything about how this race was covered. The tight camera angles and amazing, informative commentary. Well done! This is probably the best production of a world class middle distance race I've seen.
First 1500m Commonwealth gold medal for Australia since Herb Elliot in 1958. Herb went on to win gold at Rome in 1960. Can Ollie Hoare do the same at Paris in 2024?.
Excellent call he gave the top 5 a chance on the turn and built up the excitement for the Aussies in the last 100 metres unlike the other Engilsh caller who sounded disappointed when Ollie won.
Having lived in Australia back in the 80's as a Brummie i live a stones throw from Alex.. Stad.. remember Ovett, Coe, Cram i guess who was commentating & Ollie was certainly up there tremendous. Will be forever indebted to for my Driving License i achieved in Welshpool while living in Forrestfield 🏃🏁
Congratulations to Ollie Hoare from Australia 🇦🇺 for a magnificent performance and making up for his performance at the World Athletics Federation Track and Field Championships in Eugene in America 🇺🇸. Epic emotion from him when he realized that he won. Thank you for posting and greetings from the United States of America 🇺🇸.
