Commonwealth troops' excitement for coronation duties

People from across the world will be watching as King Charles III is coronated in London.
And just as the grand occasion is drawing attention from around the globe, personnel from across the Commonwealth have been rehearsing at Pirbright Army Training Centre ahead of their role in the ceremony.
Four hundred and eight service personnel from Commonwealth Nations will be taking part in proceedings, as well as personnel from British Overseas Territories.

I believe that the Commonwealth was one of the Late Queen Elizabeth II most precious organisation and it was probably the one that made her most proud. Glad that they are ALL been recognised as we are all equal within the Commonwealth. I am White English "N" Generations, well Yorkshire.

For sometime now the Commonwealth of Nations has been open to all republics (and realms). Indeed former French (Togo and Gabon) Belgium (Rwanda) and Portuguese Colonies (Mozambique) are now members. Does that now mean that former US (Philippines and Cuba), Russian (Ukraine) and Spanish (S. America) colonies can now join? We could have a competing organisation to the UN as it currently represents 1/3 of the world. It would certainly serve the best tea at annual meetings.

not many occasions for the commonwealth to let it's hair down, but this was one. It was great to see all thesee different countries take part in such a unique ceremony. It may all be symbolic and carry no political weight, but the commonwealth is something that isn't really replicated elsewhere. Lots of different countries, backgrounds, cultures, all taking part in this amazing ceremony. Thank you to every nation who sent representatives.

Mozambique - a former Portuguese colony - was the first non-ex British colonial nation to join in 1995, followed by Rwanda - a former Belgian colony - in 2009 and both Gabon and Togo - former French colonies - joined last year. Cameroon - a former French colony - contained parts of the former British colony of South Cameroons and also joined in 1995.

When the late Queen had her Coronation only 9 countries formed the Commonwealth of Nations and now there are over 50. They are all independent countries and are as free to choose to leave as they were to join. There will always be a link between the majority and that will never end. So wonderful to see them over here ❤

China or North Korea are much more liberal or you can even go to Russia. plenty of hovels free there, as there owners were sent to the Ukraine and never to return. For the record I never liked his shtick but he was a very popular presenter with the BBC for reasons beyond my comprehension. This posthumous blackening of someone's character without proper judicial process is foul beyond measure. As I have said, his behaviour was well known by his handlers at the BBC but was overlooked. Possibly because it was not unusual behaviour for such celebrities of that era.

Imagine one third of global states are British commonwealth. After New Middle Kingdom, British commonwealth is second largest network with added advantage of being globally far flung. @@ladela7348 I have to gently disagree. The Commonwealth is not subject to laws, directives and policies created and inflicted by some unelected beaurocracy. Its citizens do not pay penal tariffs to a foreign country for buying goods from outside the Commonwealth. In fact quite the reverse.
