One really important thing iam missing in the video is what the astralis players said once. When you are dead the round isn't over for you. You start calling everything you see or hear for one of your teammates that he can focus on playing.
I knew communication in a match is very important, but dividing it into 3 levels made it more clear to understand what a precise communication feels like. Thank you!
Natural Selection is a game that requires incredible communication. The tough thing is finding the balance between being able to listen to your environment in a fast paced game and also communicate vital information. Natural Selection 2 is an amazing fps/RTS hybrid worth looking at btw
Even at the professional level, I'd say the skills of communication is the area that can be most improved upon. Information is king in team games, and so is the ability to instantly get on the same page with teammates
Hello rambo, loved ur video. I'd like to know how can I (as an IGL) be able to solve problems or mistakes on my team without pass the feeling of the ''micromanagement''. Just got to know your youtube channel and I'll keep up with all your videos, great job!
The best advice I can give you for constructive criticism - is to be very select with your words, tone, and timing depending on who you're speaking with
A super simple a effective method for me is to start with a compliment, and then suggest what they can improve on. i.e " Great job getting the pick mid purple, but next time could you fall back to the team so we can push B site together?" or something along those lines. This only works if the compliment is accurate /meaningful, the method isn't overused, and your tone isn't condescending.
Great video on comms. I like the tier concept. Two questions: - do you think every team mate should at least communicate in tier 1, before anyone else can communicate on tier 3? (e.g. if they don't call what they're doing, I have a bad time calling what they should do better) - how do you get everyone on tier 2, if there is an IGL? Or do you even think its needed? (e.g. I don't want them to turn off their brains and to not only wait for my calls)
I think if anyone wants to be considered a decent teammate, they should at least aspire to contribute with tier 1 comms. In order to get to tier2, you have to practice - try the drills. i think if you spend 20 minutes doing straight drills, it's like the same amount of improvement as 5 scrims worth of communication because of the focused intention
only thing i didnt hear in the video is not directly tied to your communication yourself, but rather how well you take in the information on the receiving end. You are only as strong as your weakest link and to me i personally believe that it simply does not matter how well you relay information or how positive/impactful your communication level is if your teammate cannot hear/acknowledge the com even while engaging and be able to at the same time process it, and then either reply or base their next move accordingly. Some say it is hard to talk and shoot at the same time effectively and be good at it, i personally think it is much harder to listen and shoot at a superior level. Great vid otherwise!
@@RonRamboKim I meant the last part of video where you where shooting those bots. When I'm playing the bots are scattered 360 degrees how do you change that?
