If you want to work in the communications field, but you’re not sure whether you want to be a journalist, broadcaster, advertiser, or something else entirely, Communications and Media Fundamentals will help you find your path. In this video, Centennial College students talk about what they like about the Communications and Media Fundamentals program, and how it was the one program that gave them the intro to communications that they needed.
Communications and Media Fundamentals at Centennial College gives you a taste of every part of the media world. This one-year certificate program takes place over two semesters, and teaches you communication skills, how to work in the communications and media field, the ins and outs of modern communications technology, presentation skills and how to work in a team. You explore and experiment with digital and social media production tools, produce written communications and media solutions, and learn job and career success strategies.
The Communications and Media Fundamentals program can also help you develop a portfolio from the practical work you do in school, which is especially important to getting a career in the media, no matter what you want to be. And if you want to pursue a more specialized education, this is a pathway program, which means you can then be automatically filtered into the Centennial media program of your choice, including Advanced Journalism, Advanced Broadcast and Film, or Advanced Marketing and Advertising.
