Steve Wing passed away on November 9, 2016. He was a wise man, a fine musician, and a great friend.

Thanks to Dr. Steve Wing and TEDx Manhattan for this helpful presentation. Our industrial agriculture system is causing massive harm to people and animals. I think Dr. Wing gets it right. Each of us can choose to buy foods that were produced more responsibly. But we can't stop there if we want to put an end to these terrible abuses. We must also demand that governments and businesses act now to end the worst practices. Thanks to everyone working for food systems that are more just and healthy.

First, factory farms are among the largest contributors to antibiotic resistance because the vast majority of antibiotics used worldwide are used within them, often without any sensible restrictions or forethought as to the long-term risks this poses. Second, factory farms and the cultivation of livestock often requires deforestation, which places humans into closer contact with animals in the wild that may transmit emerging diseases

This video changed the way I think about my food. Local production might be more expensive but overall health is more important when you factor in environmental justice

Antibiotics are needed because the pigs are kept in such apalling conditions that diseases is rife.

dudes going to stop nothing, I am a hog farmer so i know how it all works, Some of his information was inaccurate. Most of it was true, But nothing is going to change, nobody who is in a substantial position in the area of hog farming is going to be willing to completely abort their investment, we are making to much money!!!!!

It's rather simple. Make environmental racism and injustice ILLEGAL. Stop allowing for lobbying and loop-holes. We need to get our heads out of our wallets...

jdsec9 What an awful, awful comment. I just hope you change your mind. Thankfully most people don’t share your sentiment.
