Community Schools Initiative - Year 1 Planning Phase 

The San Mateo-Foster City School District received the California Community School Planning Partnership grant in Fall of 2022. The grant provided funding for a 2-year Multi-Stakeholder Input Process at our 5 Title 1 Elementary Schools: Fiesta Gardens International School, Laurel Elementary, Lead Elementary, San Mateo Park Elementary, and Sunnybrae Elementary.
This effort is being led by the Director of School Leadership, Dr. Christian Rubalcaba. The input process focused on parent empowerment, student voice, and multi-staff collaboration.
The process followed the 4-Pillar Community School Model from the California Department of Education: 1. Integrated Student Supports, 2. Expanded Learning, 3. Collaborative Leadership, & 4. Family Engagement. This model aligns with our Strategic Plan Goals & Building Blocks.
