Agreed. It's awesome that you can cycle through the effects using the footswitch. Can't do that with the GA-FC. But it would be nice to know what you're switching to.
Hi, love your vids they've helped me do much. Unless pointed out before, the gafc does allow you to control tap tempo for both delays. It also allows you to toggle the pedal effects and toggle the solo. You can't toggle through the colours though :( Sorry if this has been noted before
I agree with the audio interface, not being a problem, but not having at least one more expression pedal input is a major problem for those of us who run a constant volume pedal with one pedal and maybe a delay level on the other or a Wah. I see that the AirstepPlay has a lot more going on, but I wonder if it can be used with the katana software that comes inside AirStep Kat? If somebody knows the answer to this question, I would be very grateful.🙏 I don’t know why in the world they would create such an incredible device for the katana and only include one expression pedal input 🙄
Two things... - Is there an expression pedal input or not? I've read that there is and I've read that there isn't. - Can the switches be programmed with whatever effect I want, i.e. can switch one be a chorus, wah pedal, and a compressor, and button two be a phaser, a harmonist and a tube screamer, button 3 be delay 1, and button 4 be delay 2 and reverb? Or does button one have to be boosters, button 2 modulations, button three FX, etc?
Can someone explain how airstep and gafc work in expanded mode like Dave is talking about? Airstep instructions are cryptic and Dave, while he does good describing benefits does go into how to setting both footswitches up to do this. There are so many different setups you can have on Airstep I just want to use like Dave shows in this video. Or is it simply keeping gafc footswitch on and using normal functions to switch between Bank A and Bank B and conversely keeping Airstep always on Effects (green) mode?
What if you used a USB hub? Could you then use the Airstep and the audio interface at the same time? Great product though, lots of features to really enhance the use of the Katana.
I'm struggling to understand what the main differnces are, what are the biggest differences? why would I buy the airstep over the gafc? I just bought an Artist mkii and mostly will be using it live.

@@LifeHawkeye you can hook your phone iPad/tablet/PC/Mac up to the bluetooth the airstep kat gives you and edit patches like you would if it was hooked up USB to your laptop with tone studio and retain the same functions while having a more efficient foot switch
could you guide me if I can leave the Airstep Katana connected directly to the computer to use the software and the Airstep through a Hub device for example?
Finding your channel very helpful. Do you know if the Airstep will work with the Bass Katana 110 Bass amp, too? Allow me to select channels and effects?
So when these airstep controlers came out and I bought the original one- but I just jam w buddy's and honestly started a new job and did fool w it for a bit- by the time I was freed up to jam I got the airstep kat for my 100 and love it especially in tandem w the gafc and expression pedal way it hooks up.. my q is do I really need the airstep original- I mean I'm just learning daw so it's a new world and I find it sitting on the shelf doing nothing. I wah from my gafc and patch from it and the airstep kat I modify delay and the other cool features- but the org airstep sits on my shelf- it'slike since i dont have the lite to go w the org im lost- would the org airstep work w my keyboard or sho u ld I just sell it? Everyone on here has the airstep and the lite but I don't see buying the lite to do nothing I can already do- look I'm just an avg player who jams w buddies for nothing more than fun and have no desires to gig- and advice please? Great videos btw as always!!! I also have a spark and spark controller could I tie the airstep in w it somehow or do I need the airstep spark and again makes my airstep org usess..I play 90% acoustic but really wanted to getting electric playing this yr or 2 since the nodules r alot better and reasonable price for a few 40 yr Olds reliving the garage band days 4 shits n gigs. Exit “ I’m using the App Airstep Updater . All my connections are good, Bluetooth ect…I’m able to use the Katana Air and Katana Librarian Apps on my iPhone witch prove my connections … What do I need to do ? Also witch Firmware do I need.. ? I have the lasted update on my Katana Amp … Could you please help..? Thank you very much !
Right now I'm on the edge between these two because I'd rather have the airstep, but the button release thing is very weird to me. You are changing channels without playing, which doesn't show this con
if this is connected thru USB cable then it will be a challenge to find a very long USB cable for a stage set up. am i making sense? 🤔 but overall, this is definitely a game changer.
Maybe not? You don't say how long a run you need, but I have a 49 foot Monoprice USB A to B cable I got from Amazon. Before that, I had a 25 footer I also bought on Amazon, a SNANSHI, whatever that is, to connect the Katana directly to my Mac. I've not used the Monoprice yet, but the 'shorter' cable connected to the adapter that comes with the Airstep works just fine, even though it's not supposed to (the max length of USB 2 is supposed to be around 16 feet, the newer iterations being much shorter, best I remember). I am guessing that the 'trick' is that the amount of information you're asking it to transfer in this situation is not very dense at all compared to, say, transferring a photo from a PC to a hard drive. Also, these cables are both much thicker than the average USB cable, and according to the gurus, cable quality does matter. Of course, if you need a longer cable than what I'm listing here, you can covert your USB signal to ethernet and back. Those systems can run up to 200 feet, which is pretty long unless, I suppose, you're being Angus Young and toting your Airstep along with you down the ramp into the arena crowd.
I'm concerned about this as well, but I think any good quality printer USB cable should be fine. I would pick up two though, especially if you're gigging it. I'm not confident that USB cables will hold up to the rigors of live use like a good 1/4" cable will.
Let's imagine I need to quickly turn on or turn off delay (for example when playing U2). In GAFC I can do it with delay button - without holding. with AIRSTEP do I need to always hold it to turn it on/off?
