I bought the original Bauer 10 inch sliding miter saw about a year ago. I did a review and have had many people comment. they saw overall has performed well. however there has been a few issues that I have had with this all. I went and purchased a new saw. and I placed them side by side to try to find if they have made any improvements. the shadow line still does not work and I believe it's due to a design flaw. but overall the rest of the saw seems to be worth the price.

Love the video thank you. Would you recommend this saw over the Wen? Thanks

I have not used a WEN miter saw. All of their products I have used have been good but can't say how they compare.

I think the people saying it won't cut are just plain hatters...I don't get why people make things up to just hate on a product..I don't own one but come on lol...on the other hand folk that say it's the best thing since sliced bread are justifying it cause the bought it...me I'm just looking for honest review and that's what you do..no none since just saying what it is...thanx...

I have bought several miter saws, including Dewalt, Ridgid, Delta, Bosch, and more. I normally sell my old one after I get the new one set up. I kept the Bauer. It is in the attic of my shop. It really was my favorite and just could not get rid of it. The problem with it is that it sticks out from the wall so far. Where I have my miter station, it got in the way. If I rearrange my shop, I will bring it back out.

Robert, FT2 is a flame resistance certification by CSA, while VW1 its an UL flame resistance certification. The methodology is completely different. Would changing wire certifications be it a decision of economical (revenue) reasons or product improvement reasons? .

There was only around 100 difference in the serial numbers. I found a couple of different parts used. I am not sure why there was so many differences between so few saws.

Thank you. I never really thought that many people would be interested in the things I do in my shop. My friends kept telling me that they had not seen some of the things I had done before and that I should be doing videos on them. So once I posted a couple of videos and they actually got some views I have been trying to make more videos of things that I have done while still trying to get some work done. Maybe one day I'll have enough subscribers that making videos will be my work.

Thanks for this comparison. I'm considering purchasing this saw so I appreciate the insights. Just as a suggestion since you mentioned trying to improve the quality of your videos, the very first thing I would recommend is getting some kind of lavalier microphone. Even wireless options can easily be purchased for less than $50. This would make a massive improvement in your sound quality versus what the camera microphone picks up at 5-6 feet away by helping to isolate your voice from The sound that's reverberating around in your shop. This was my first time watching one of your videos and I noticed it right away.

Thanks for the feedback. I have looked at buying I mic. I am still trying to pick one. On my videos where I am moving around a lot I have been trying to just do voice overs to keep the volume consistent. Thanks for watching.

Do either of your Bauer 10" sliding miter saws have a separate power switch in order to activate the laser line??
@ShopRamblings
@ShopRamblings 2 года назад
The Bauer miter saws do not have laser lines. They have shadow lines which are much better. It is a separate switch to turn it on.

Thanks for the in depth assessment . Probably check this out again! When I purchase the saw. Had an old 12 chicago electric. These are a serious improvement. And I like the replacement gaurentee.

I had an old Chicago Electric one and it was a great saw for the money. It never did break and I put a lot of use on it. I have upgraded again but could not part with my Bauer. I have it stored just in case my new saw let's me down.
@GregAlanEdwardsEmmanuelRidge
I think you just did a really thorough review and comparison. I think you should send the video in to Harbor Freight. They do watch the ones they get sent. Might even lead to them fixing the shadow line issue!

Harbor Freight is discontinuing this saw so they are not going to fix the issue.

Quick question, about your Rigid miter saw stands, are those the models currently available at Home Depot for $250.00 or were you able to find them on the black Friday sale? If so, how much?where and when? I have heard they sometimes go for $150.00
@ShopRamblings
@ShopRamblings Год назад
First, I will say this style of stand is significantly better than the other style. They are sold under a couple of different brands. I paid $80 each at Direct Tools Outlet around black Friday. If you watch on the Home Depot site, search for it each time. I have seen it listed for full price. Then seen it with a pen for half price. I think if they package it, they can get around map pricing.

@Shop Ramblings Thank you ever so much! I just ordered it from Direct Tools, I picked it out, and was hesitant, I abandoned the cart for a few hours, then got back to it, only to discover they had thrown in an even larger discount. Now to begin obsessively tracking the package the moment they tell me it's shipped !!! Thanks again!

Great review and good idea on changing the switching location in the wiring. i purchased this very same saw last week on clearance and had a chance to break it in over the weekend. i absolutely love it! I'm glad i stumbled across this video as i will be making the same mod ASAP. Cheers, F5

I love the saw. I still have it. I am not sure if it is a heat thing here in Florida or what, but every person I know that has the saw and leaves it plugged in had the problem. I have not had any issues since I rewired it. I wonder if that is why they discontinued it. They had too many returned because the shadow went out.
@R86Quad
@R86Quad Год назад
@@ShopRamblings that could very well be the reasoning behind the discontinue. The heat definitely doesn't help things much but i suspect that the main culprit is the fact that power is being supplied to the board at all times and drawing amperage therefor, heating things up. 😕 Regards, F5

Thanks for the review! Just got this and though it claims that I can cut 5.5” tall baseboard every time I try the motor housing or the dust collection black plastic contacts my baseboard before the blade goes all the way through. Have you had this issue? I can’t find a position where the wood isn’t being contacted I’ve had to resort cutting the baseboard flat with the blade beveled to either side.
@ShopRamblings
@ShopRamblings Год назад
Just to make sure we are talking about the same saw is yours the 10" Sliding Bauer. There are several versions they sell that are slightly different. They have discontinued this saw, but I still have it in my attic. I have seen a few still in stores on clearance. It was such a good saw I couldn't get rid of it when I upgraded. I can pull it down and test it. Are you trying to miter 5 1/2"x1/2" base board? Also, when making the cut, do you have the saw pushed all the way forward? When cutting vertical baseboard and crown moldings, the saw should be locked all the way forward to cut like a chop saw. If that makes sense.
@rb923
@rb923 Год назад
@@ShopRamblings Thank you! Mine is the model #19743E-B. I believe it's the newer one of the 2 you highlight in this video. Got it on clearance last week. Basedboard is 5 1/2"x1/2". I've tried the saw in multiple positions on the sliding rail, all the way back, up and halfway. The motor or the plastic dust collecting shroud always hits the top of the trim with about 1/4" to 1/2" still left to be cut on the baseboard. I'm also holding the baseboard up against the fence vertically. I have been able to cut ok if I lay the baseboard flat and then bevel the saw. Migh still be user error since this is my first saw, so thank you in advance.
