Horn speakers are sensitive, but a current limit of a 3W single ended amp caused clipping of some loud sibilants on a crossover frequency. Switching from 8 to 4 Ohm output increased maximal current that the amp could deliver, and changing a bit output impedance of the amp from slight negative to slight positive output impedance eased even more, the amp did not try to compensate output at that frequencies anymore. 12W version is not strictly SE, it is assisted SE, when current source using one more power tube provides more current to the output tube. Even though the assisting tube has huge dynamic resistance, it is modulated, so some balancing presents. Not exactly like in PP amps when transfer function is symmetric, but still not exactly SE output. That's why 3W version sounds more alive, it is a fair single ended output. If more power needed, I have a 6W version, in the middle, that is also a fair SE, but using more powerful tubes. Looks like for more power I should go to a parallel SE, that would require massive output transformers. The main advantage between PP and SE amps is, SE amps preserve "air" and 3-d sound stage better. If I want an ultimate sound quality, I go to tube SE, nothing can sound better.
Я не спрашивал, что за динамики он использовал. Знаю только, что 2 - по 8 Ом, а на середке - 4 Ома, потому второй усь и надрывался, пока я его не переключил на 4 ома и не подкрутил выходное сопротивление. Да, первый - не совсем однотакт, в нем я использовал "помогающий" источник тока, на зеркальной половине выходного трансформатора. Получился как-бы гибрид однотакта с двухтактом в классе А. Благодаря местной ОС выход как-бы триодный, второе плечо - пентодный генератор тока. Динамика немного другая, чем при честном однотакте, это - и слышно.
