So far I've only done short rows in socks. I didn't know enough to be afraid of it lol. I found it very easy and the instructions were so easy to follow. I'm the type of person that decides I want to try something and I just teach myself how to do it without worrying about how hard it might be. Today with Craftsy classes and RU-vid I have absolutely no fear about learning new things. I just wish that you had actually shown us how each one is done so I could understand the difference between tham. Too many times these episodes are more about selling stuff on Craftsy lately. But since I love you guys so much I will continue to watch.

Kathy Goodman yup, wanted to learn. Disappointed.

Hate to say it but this video was an ad to take a Craftsy class. Wish you would have given a demonstration, because that is what I was expecting.

No knitting done in this episode. No demo. I recently used German short rows in a shawl and now love this technique. Why couldn't one of you showed this one?Love you both anyway!

I felt they could have demonstrated the two that aren't as well-known (The yarn over and the twin-stitch shadow.).

This was more general than other episodes that included demos. The tip to Carol Fellers's class saved the episode from a thumb's down from me.

I took that same class on short rows as well and loved it! Craftsy has definitely been a huge help in learning new techniques ✨

Suggestion to use bobby pins when doing the Japanese Short Row. It works great. The episode was not helpful other than to sell Craftsy unlimited.
@e2cmmm
@e2cmmm 6 лет назад
For Japanese short-row method, you can use very inexpensive hairpins or bobby-pins (several dozen for $1) instead of the more expensive locking stitch holders. I use light color/blonde pins for working on dark yarns, and brown and black pins for working on light color yarns. 👵🏻

I learned from Carol Feller tooo - many years ago on Craftsy.

I use Bobby pins for the Japanese short rows. So much easier and less fiddly than stitch markers

Ok, the short row class is not free if you have to pay for craftsy unlinited to see it. This is not a crafting video, it’s a commercial🙄

Karin Haasche If you go to Craftsy.com (not Craftsy Unlimited), Carol Feller has a free class titled "Short Rows". Hope this helps!

Irene S that’s really nice but not my point. These recent episodes have zero content, their whole point is to sell craftsy unlimited. So, they should be labelled as advertising.
@sidior12

What do you mean? They always demo stitches, and short row stitchs (at least wrap andturn) are quick.
@BethJinkerson

A bit odd that nothing was demonstrated. And that a technique was mentioned without an example. It would have helped to tell us at the beginning that we’d get a free class to learn what they were showing us as samples.

well it does says style of short rows not how to knit the different styles of short rows. Just saying

There are many free videos on how to do this. Of course, they don't do these videos just for fun. They do try to sell Bluprint and Craftsy, which is ingenious.

In my opinion, I feel like this video was a waste of time to watch. No hate to anyone, but it's honest feedback.

I did Carol Feller’s class & used Japanese short rows in a linen top because they are good to use with fine yarns. The pins are good because you can’t forget to then pick up later. The course doesn’t include German short rows, which I want to learn, but it was a good course. I would have liked to have seen one of the techniques demonstrated here. @knittingpoppy

Please, what is the name of the pattern of the pink shawl shown, both as the cover photo for this episode, and on the table in front of Tracie and Jodi? Disappointed that this episode was so glaringly short on details.

As always, love hearing you talk about knitting techniques. It would have been better to show the different techniques briefly with each explanation. Didn’t learn any new knitting technique from watching with this episode.

I often use safety pins for stitch markers (when I can't find the real ones. ) could you substitute safety pins for the Japanese short row method? 👍 With lots of love💜 from sunny 🌞 Arizona 🌵, 74/51f today. 95f two days ago, crazy!

I did not care for this episode cuz it was too General about the short rows but then I didn't understand the rap music and the terms for the balls that was to me not appropriate
@SuperDesignChick
@SuperDesignChick 6 лет назад
eddree miles sir mix a lot is a rapper from the 90’s. His song was, I Like Big Butts. Part of the lyrics was, I like big butts and I cannot lie! So for years, people have been changing it around. These two did, I like big balls and I cannot lie, in reference to yarn balls. The song is offensive to some. I see your viewpoint but I have actually sung the same line many times while knitting. Is sung a word? Hmmmmm. Anyhow, that is the explanation. It was a popular song and I wouldn’t suggest you take a listen because it is very sexual.

First time for a thumbs down... Would have been much better if you had demonstrated how to do instead of just describing. I realize this is a ploy to get people to do the craftsy unlimited. I am turned off.

What is a short row and picking up wraps? Is there a website where it has what they are and written definition? I'm learning to knot and watching videos but don't have the concentration skills to watch an entire video Also think you all should start out with the purpose of your video before you guys start talking about the things you do since sometimes you all go on and on which I may just be inpatient and the only one who feels this way but are you guys In a studio where your getting paid to do it and for the outcome like veiws and this is or at home? I'm trying to figure out why there are 2 of you in your channel but for the most part your the only ones who do it with someone else and it does make it more interesting to watch but I'm nosey and probably want to know to much to be able to ask questions on here and make comments

I just found you ladies today - I have binge watched all 4 seasons - I must say that I like the longer format from seasons 1 and 2; with you actually walking the viewer thru the stitch or technique being talked about much more than this shorter format. This episode was a massive disappointment to me - it seemed to be a commercial for Craftsy memberships. Not sure if I want to see your next video :(

I agree Dora. I loved season 1 the best. Season 2 was good, but I preferred the old set. Jodi staring at the camera gets a little creepy, and not looking at each other is off putting. Season one had a cosy feel to it that I really miss. Then season 3, and the short format, just sucks. Miss spending time with you girls, and don't like watching Craftsy ads!
