With the RoboBrew/Brewzilla (according to Kegland), the intention is to use the recirculation pump to push the wort through the chiller which is in a bucket of ice water outside of the kettle then back into the kettle instead of a standard immersion chiller that goes into the kettle..
It’s fine to review the Mash & Boil as a good quality option for a relatively inexpensive price but it DOES come in pump option for just $50 more. You have to factor in the additional cost of a wort chiller as it doesn’t come with one.
Excellent point! When we first recorded this video, the M&B didn't have a pump option, so James made one himself. It's still working like a champ, although we've been using the Anvil Foundry more lately when we do use an all-in-one system. We need to do an updated video for 2021 on this topic!
We did do a standalone overview video of the Foundry when it first came out, but I think we're due for an update video comparing all of these machines together again. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-DZGLGbTSX6A.html
It is! We actually discuss this on our podcast at the top of this week's episode. James discussed this with the manufacturer and they insist it's "food safe" but they haven't done the NSF approval process because of the costs. To be fair, they may be yanking our chain but James is super thorough when using components in our brewing and drafting systems.
At about 1:15 you show the thermometer hole in the lid with a fitting done to allow recirculation with a pump. I'd really like some info on the parts used so I could duplicate it.
When did Grainfather start putting the reset switch on the side? Because I've had two GFs (the first one was defective and the second one was the replacement) and neither one of them have the reset switch on the side. I just got my replacement GF a couple months ago.
Sorry for replying to an old ass vid, but I agree, didn’t have a reset switch on the side. Mine was defective after almost a year. Heater to connect mechanism. Customer support and I thought I was getting a new burner and connect but they shipped a whole new unit. Classy
Sure thing! I'll add it to the description too but the tubing is this high temp hose from Kegconnection (www.kegconnection.com/high-temperature-hose-pvc-and-silicone-free-3-8-x-5-8/) , the pump we found on Amazon for CHEAP (amzn.to/2zGO3rw), the shut off valve was also from Amazon and was a 2-pack (amzn.to/2QFmo3Y), and the siphon spray wort aerator came from Homebrew Supply (www.homebrewsupply.com/siphon-spray-tip-wort-aerator.html). We are going to make a video on how we added recirculation to the Mash & Boil as well!
Homebrew Happy Hour did you end up making the video for adding recirculation to the M&B? I'd love to see all the specifics for how you did that, particularly with the various connections.
are you sure? I just searched the Grainfather on ebay Australia and it was listed at $1050. www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-Bluetooth-MODEL-GRAINFATHER-connect-AUTO-all-Grain-Mash-Brewing-System-home/282280134953?epid=537316135&hash=item41b9350929:g:SiQAAOSwYIxX6iPd
@@DraGon-cg6ge the complete brewtools b150 cost you at least €4700 incl VAT. I should wait for the Grainfather G70 to come out this year in December, and see what their prices are. The Robobrew Brewzilla 65 is also a option. Brewtools is very very expensive. A german Speidel Braumeister is outdated, and also too expensive. You should look up ( David Heath ) on youtube and watch his vids. I would rather brew more often smaller batches , than one big 150 liter. www.brewtools.no/en/14-produkter
This could be true where you are located, however, here in the US the RoboBrew has a 1000W switch and a 500W switch, and the Grainfather is 1600W total. The reason KegLand and Grainfather did this is because of the US's 120V home electrical systems. Commonly the lowest breaker size in the electrical box is 15A so a single circuit only has a maximum of 1800W capacity (120V * 15A = 1800W). Cheers!
Of course forgot about the poor US electrics lol. Just worth noting to anyone outside of the US that the robobrew is actually the more powerful of the 3 👍🏼
