That Mainstays box fan is also sold under the Pelonis brand at Lowe's..... It seems that GD Midea owns a big part of our fan industry. Anyways, nice to see a video of these together. I haven't seen the mainstays one in a while but from what i can remember of it, I think they both blow a decent breeze. I own the Lasko cool colors box fan, a rather noisy fan but still ok i guess.
Eh... I won't own a fan newer than 1970 or so... I've been known to use mostly pre-war fans as "daily drivers" to stay cool. I stopped using my 1918 GE as a "white noise machine" when I nearly chopped my fingers off while turning it off when I woke up one morning.
Got 'em both, except the plastic cabinet one is under the brand name "Living Solutions" and is the conventional grey and white color scheme. I like both fans.
I am glad they don't sell those Main Stays box fans anymore because I honestly think they are terrible because whenever I would look at the display fan they had out barely even moved air and it felt like I would break it by only holding it.
That's a bummer. I almost bought one of those too. The blade is what kinda got my attention. That grille is really limiting the airflow. Glad I didn't buy one at this time.
I got this mainstays in white as well as a Lasko (newer version of 3733), and I gotta say I prefer the look mainstays. It’s sturdy, stylish, ergonomic, good cord, changeable fuse plug, moves the same air (tested both thoroughly), has large inward folding feet (window use), rubber grip pads on the feet, cord storage, large forward control knob, vented yet protected motor (again for window use), and (most importantly) it is very well balanced and thus doesn’t vibrate & move all over the dam place on high speed like the Lasko does! I ordered another in black, an excellent buy in my opinion .....
i wish walmart put the air companion back onsale, but i think lasko themselves discontinued the fan ever since the recall. i remember them quitting the lasko weathersheild select.

The lasko is a better colour that's why I like it better, also the handle and knob are better but the other one if it wasn't blue might be a bit of a better deal in my opinion, considering its cheap
Wow after your review theese things are really Terrible. heres one story that i have, i had a lasko B20200 in my room since october 2016 and i was happy with it as a white noise machine then in the summer i took it out to have a window air conditioner and i thought during the fall i would have my lasko again but my mom wanted to use it in her room because her lakewood fan model 101 broke and so i had to buy one of these peices of garbage same exact color and it had poor design it looked kinda ugly and THE WORST OF ALL THE HANDLE WAS IN THE BACK so it was hard moving it if I needed to. So i used this the rest of the fall and finally i borrowed my second lasko fan from my grandmas house because i had a lakewood there, so i used it better than that blue one i used, but i still kinda missed using that one because it has too fast of a medium and my other lasko fan on medium was the low speed of the fan i replaced the blue one but then i was in luck because then my mom said she didnt like my one i was using since 2016 so she used another fan in my collection and started using my one and only lasko again and i am really happy about it
The problem with the Main Stay isn't necessarily the solidity of the blades. It's the proximity of the blade to the grill, as well as the shadowing of the blade tips by the knob mounted on the grill in front, and the handle relief in the back. Shadowing the blade tips is why it makes so much noise. The long wind down is because this blade doesn't load the motor as much. I'm sure you noticed that the motor spins faster. It might be worth it to try running without the front grill, just to see if there is an improvement in airflow, as well as a reduction in noise. If you have a Kill-A-watt meter, it would be interesting to see what the difference in power consumption is, compared to airflow volume between the Lasko and the Main Stay.
