Earlier I made a video looking at whether or not it's possible to improve the sound from the Accurascale 37.
All the clips where I demonstrated the sound were spread out and the plan was to repeat these, together at the end of the video, but it would have made it nearly 20 minutes long and didn't want people to get bored!
But I decided it was worth doing this, and put it into a separate video.
The first video can be found here • Can The Accurascale Cl...

This is really interesting, and thanks for posting it. I backed away from an Accurascale Class 37 order when I heard the final sound recording; most of them, to my ear, sound corrupted. Having just the EM1 on its own, while perhaps a little 'muddier', definitely makes a marked improvement. I think the speaker set-up is one area where Accurascale could look at improving the loco - which is otherwise excellent - on future runs.

Your video makes it more easy to understand removal of sugar cube speaker,ive been struggling to pop mine out from under pcb. But all good now thanks to your video😊😊

I think I'll be removing the sugarcube speaker from mine based on this

So I have removed the Sugarcubes speaker and done the sound adjustment and it’s incredible now so recommend anyone to do it

A very good test, I think the EM speaker on its own is better. You get plenty of low frequency and can still hear the horns, where with the others it sounds a bit tinny, that's my view.

A great video. I think i will remove the sugar cube and leave the EM1 in place. the only other issue i have is that it just sounds quite. Is there a way of adjusting the engine volume?. As when i stand the accurascale next to the Hattons 66, i can only hear the 66. Thankyou in advance.

I wasnt imoressed with the standard factory setup, or the ESU speaker. The EM1 on its own sounded okay though

Interesting watch and tempting to remove all sugarcubes however now that the bass and treble can be adjusted on the locos maybe this would be the best solution...

It will give different results again, I suspect the best option now will be to take the sugarcube out still and turn up the treble, because the EM1 can handle it fine, but if you turn the bass up with the sugarcube, or with the NEW ESU speaker I think it will probably introduce some crackling, I will look into making these changes to mine and do another video at some point

Very interesting comparison. Is the sugar cube speaker just removed and no other adjustment made, doesnt removing the sugar cube affect the overall impedance without affecting the chip?
@roadsandrails
@roadsandrails 9 месяцев назад
It corrects the impedance, its supposed to be 4 ohms, minimum, the Accurascale setup is 2.4 ohms

What if we connect sugar cube in serial and set treble some low ?
@roadsandrails
@roadsandrails 9 месяцев назад
@@goldenwings8912 if you connected it in series then it would stop the locos that cut out on start up from doing so, but it would probably still crackle

Might not be worth stocking those new ESU speakers. Based on this test no chance for this application.

I think it’ll be good in things requiring a higher pitched sound, it might also be better at lower volumes, where as the EM1 is better at high volumes. I also bet it’s good in steam where the EM1 can sound a bit flat.

@@roadsandrails Hope you do find a good application. I tested ACC DRS 37 last evening. I found the distortion of the horns as you indicate, but only in one direction. Perhaps there are different sound files dependent on direction?
@roadsandrails

@@davew2452some sound files do have directional horns, I’m not sure about this model though
