We do backhauls sometimes that are hazardous hence the need for the endorsement, also Walmart has figured out that in some instances it is cheaper for them to use outside carriers
That might be true because the DC I’m out of here in Brundidge, Alabama was ran by Swift who just wasn’t performing well enough for Walmart. We service something like 125-130 stores in this region with meat and produce, deli, dairy, frozen plus dry freight like your paper towels, water and so on. Keep in mind all these stores need supplied on a daily basis there’s some stores in our region who take whole truck loads so you gotta be on your game and be on time granted they give you more than enough time to get your stops done. Swift was having problems getting to the stores on time and sometimes not at all. So Walmart was like to heck with that and took over completely.
We have drivers that make up to 120-130k. That 95-110 is for new drivers. But by next year all common carriers that are dedicated with walmart will be not returning after next year. Most terminals have already let go carriers like swift, england, Schneider and etc. we will be doing all of our own freight after next year, that is why we are trying to hire drivers like crazy. We dont get paid $15 a hour on duty, we only get $15 at terminals and store and vendors when we have to wait for loads after 45 mins, but we get our adp for hourly pay that averages between $38-$50 a hour bases on your average daily pay. But there is a known walmart notice that will be letting all outside carriers go by next year when thwir contracts is up and become 100% a private fleet.
Yea im currently with a mega carrier my self. Im at 20 months as soon as i hit 30 months i will definitely be applying for walmart fleet. The only negative i see about them is the driver facing cameras they say they are not turned on but i know someone who was in a small accident with the truck and he said when safety had him in the office they showed him a video of what he was doing in the truck so yea they on lol and you have to give them permission to your phone records
The inward facing cameras are off and can be covered if you want. They can see what you're doing through reflections in the windshield. Their phone record policy is the same as any other company. If you're in a major accident, you have to hand over your phone records to the company and DOT.
If only I had a clean background, I would’ve definitely applied to Walmart! US Xpress here in NC also has a local dedicated account for Walmart, they pay nickels though. Excellent video
Thank you. 😊. I heard Walmart wants to get rid of all the 3rd party mega carriers and just deliver their own freight privately. Maybe they’ll start hiring like crazy
I’m living proof. I’ve been there for a year and it is the easiest job I’ve ever worked for at Walmart as long as you do your job stay off the radar. You’ll never hear from them.
One of the things that hurt these mega carriers that are on Walmart dedicated accounts is that they’re not dependable and trust Walmart is a stickler for being on time plus tearing up the trailers is also a no no
Slowly but shortly Walmart is going end the account w there third parties here in California they are now pulling the loads that CR England would do aka the refer
Walmart and contract dont do the same thing. Walmart drivers will do grocery , neighborhood markets , pallet , gm loads , backhauls, sam clubs, store returns live loads from multiple DCs all in the same week sometimes in the SAME DAY. You run non stop all day. They may start at the grocery dc but can go anywhere in approximately a 600 mile raduis where walmart needs them to go without fail over the course of the work week.. They can dispatch more efficiently cause they book your runs for sometimes several days at a time. Contract drivers may have other obligations with your company or hometime scheduled and your company handles that not walmart.
Walmart doesn’t have hard requirements at all it’s just are u a good driver or a great driver or a shit driver Walmart will always pick the great driver as well as every other carrier should tbh
WalMart's equipment is better considering the slip seating. You won't get the benefits that WalMart offers VS Swift or any other carriers! That's the way it is. True, WalMart's looking for the best. There's many reasons for that.
@@Tay.juhWoods Which is why you do your time and get out , soon as possible,do 1 year and step up the latter, do 2 years and head to Walmart, it’s doable and you can
@@Tay.juhWoodsWalmart is pretty lenient when it comes to minor stuff like that for incoming drivers. They moreso care that you're a safe driver that learned from that mistake and adapts well to frequent change and will represent the brand well driving a big billboard down the road. For example, we're not allowed to honk at other drivers on the road because they're to be viewed as customers.
@Tay.juhWoods fill out a app anyway if something comes up you will be first in line i used to drive for them pretty good place but i was sleeper truck and wanted home daily only reason i left
I used driving-test.org to study for all my endorsement tests. They offer a 100% pass ganruantee. For hazmat, you need to find time to go to a TSA approved Idemia place to get your finger prints and background check. I’m pretty sure you have an update-to-date DOT card since you’re already OTR. You also have to make sure you take an ELDT course (which is also on driving-tests.org) which will you $99. The order in which you do everything doesn’t matter, just make sure you have the ELDT course complete, before you take the test at the DMV. They’ll let you take the test without the background check, but they’ll withhold your hazmat endorsement until they get the background check back.

@@mikebeast ok, all u have to do is talk to a walmart driver and what im saying they will tell u the exact same. Once they have enough drivers hired on they will be cutting out all dedicated drivers. They cant afford to do so now because of the surge in groceries growth, they need 14000 drivers to let everyone go. Most dc’s they have let go contract carriers. Just google how many drivers walmart want to hire by the end of 2025. It will say they want a total of 14,000. We have gotten memos on not wanting to use “pt” (private transport) is what they call it. In cleburne texas, england had a new contract too and they told them their services wasnt needed any more at the end of last year. Im not trying to argue or say who is right or wrong, im just explaining why its a surge of hiring now. Walmart never hired in the previous years, this is why they have the associates to driver program to fill up dx’s that drivers dont want to be at. So they are taking drivers out of the warehouse and training them to be drivers. They want to be a 100% private fleet now.
