I could listen to Paul talk about guitars for hours. Many indie/boutique guitar builders clearly have a passion, but few of them match Paul's absolute love of his instruments. That love is doubled by just how much knowledge and experience he has in the industry. Great demos by both men! These guitars sound and look killer 👏
I dig them both. The NF53 is definitely interesting to me, but it's not $2900 worth of interesting. Will be waiting for an SE version, like I did the Silver Sky. Very cool and very drool-worthy, just not affordable for me.
Having played both the SE and signature Silver Skys, they’re pretty damn close. The part that blew me away the most was how comfortable and sleek the PRS was compared to a Custom Shop Fender. They’ve done it better
Always love listening to Paul talking about his guitars! And it's the only big builder to play personally his guitars in his videos! Great man! and nice guitars too...
Its an old stereotype but it is an acquired taste. Imo the magic of a traditional tele neck is less about how it sounds on its own and more about how it sounds in combination with the bridge pickup, that in between on a tele is sweet but its a specific old school rnb thing that doesnt work for everyone
@@TVsBen Probably right; doubt if Paul is ever going to release a single coil T style based on his comments today, so I'm not going to wait around. EDITED: Just chatted with someone who personally demoed these, and they are blown away by the pickups - said that the narrow field pups really do have a single coil vibe, sightly fatter, and with zero hum! Still - the price point remains way above my budget. Interesting, not string through, not crazy about the transparent finishes on the NF53 (but I can't afford one any way, so who cares!). 😛
One of the first videos where I heard, quickly, the difference between pickups. Great to see him just swap guitars really quick. Excited to try one of these.
As a country picker from the 80's and 90's, I don't think PRS has nailed that vintage Tele twang. But it is a very useable instrument. I do own a PRS SE Custom 22 semi-hollow body (black gold) that WILL give me that Tele twang when in coil tap. And the 60hz hum isn't horrible at all. I play it instead of my Tele Elite all the time. It is much more versatile. I think the NF53 definitely has a place in modern country though. It is decidedly heavier than classic country. But my all-time favorite is still a custom shop Strat with Fat 50's run through a custom Princeton Reverb. I use the middle pup and bump the treble and presence controls a bit to get my Tele sound. Most folks don't realize how to get that Tele sound. A lot of the tone comes from finger plucking quite hard...
Paul you are the best such a great guy!! Good news is my girlfriend just bought me the PRS MT 15 Mark Tremonti Signature Guitar head and cabinet I couldn’t get the PRS speaker cord because it wasn’t in stock. I am going to buy a set of PRS locking tuners i love your locking tuners wish they would have come stock that’s my only complaint if it is even a complaint. So AMS sent me two of there cables I kind of wish I would have waited for one of your cables. But everything is amazing and top of the line thank you Paul and the PRS family for making my birthday super special.
Great guitars! I love to hear you guys jam together. A small production suggestion: if you're playing black or black edged guitars, it would be a good idea to wear lighter colored shirts. It's hard to see the shape of the body when everything is a similar color. How is that for nit picky? :0)
Nice to see someone who deserves an endorsement deal! I think he's more appreciative than someone else I won't name who got an endorsement and you never seem them play their own model!
Talk about a plot twist! Everyone though Myles is gonna get a Fender Tele signature model after seeing him play some interesting custom models in recent years. . . and he ends up with a PRS sig. He made a great choice on him. Way to snag him, PRS! And may I add, it’s a sick guitar - much, MUCH better than the Fenders WAS playing. And mind you, I don’t have allegiance to either brand. Yours just looks gorgeous and sounds superior. I’m sure it plays better too.
If it was a 30s video they wouldn't have been able to painstakingly explain to you all the ways it isn't just a telecaster and they're not mini humbuckers.
Releasing a core at the same price point as an artist signature, and NOT including locking tuners, is just mind-boggling to me. They should be pretty much standard on everything by now, in my humble opinion.
PRS Can you please make a new signature guitar based on the PRS SE Standard with Mikael Åkerfeldt again from Opeth. In the same vein as his old Les Paul looking signature SE model in red with gold hardware but in the PRS SE Standard shape with the tremolo and everything. I would really like to buy that one instead of a normal PRS SE Standard since I love Opeth and think it is a shame you stopped making that gorgeous guitar 😭 I also want to take the time to thank PRS for the amazing guitars being built from the Indonesian factory. The level of quality and quality control is truly superior for being built outside the US. Many of my friends started with guitars being built from that factory and plays them everyday to this day and none of them had any problems with their guitars. They are really built to a great standard. Now please a PRS SE Standard guitar with the classical tremolo arm in a sexy red color that oozes of metal is what we need (Mark Holcomb no tremolo arm and Tremonti not the classical PRS body shape).
I want that maple neck 25.5" scale with jumbo frets 22 or 24, bolt on or neck through, that electronics layout or standard custom 24 layout, custom 24 body shape.
I play (among others) two PRS Fiore (USA) and two PRS Silver Sky guitars (USA), of which I am completely convinced and thrilled. But that these four expensive guitars were delivered without a case does little honor to PRS. Because a good case simply belongs from 2000 euros or from 2000 US dollars. If my dealer had not included the matching cases from SKB at no extra charge, I would not have bought these guitars. Maybe PRS should reconsider the option to give the customer the choice between a gig bag or a case when buying one of their guitars. Then the world would be all right again, in my opinion. I find the PRS NF 53 and the Myles Kennedy Signature very interesting, but also too expensive. Kind regards from Germany Mic 🙂
Mark's explorer style guitar you mean? Doesn't seem like they plan to release that one anytime soon. Saw Alter Bridge recently with Paul on stage in Maryland and if the crowd response of Mark's explorer doesn't get Paul to release it, I'm not sure what would.
There are those shortening cable plugs by Neutrik, I can not believe that I just found them a year ago. Since then, there is no humming, no crackling, no buzzing, when changing instruments. Those plugs are the best invention, since the cable itself! GO GET SOME :) ... nice axes btw! :)
Yo. Heads up - I think Fender copied you guys with the Telecaster. Jk. My faith in PRS grows and grows. Good leadership, Paul. Thanks to all the hard working PRS employees for making guitars that we love.
These look awesome. Absolutely loved the NF53 neck pickup! And the "darken" mode on the Miles Davis bridge pickup was perfect. No way I can afford them currently, so impatiently waiting 2-3 years for the SE version.
Sounds better than anything on the market,,,,for a professional,,,in my eyes a perfect guitar,,,,,and I play a fender telecaster,,Mexico,,,,my favorite,,,also a beautiful USA Stratocaster.
PRS, I know you folks must have them somewhere, so please show us your concept drawings of all the never used 6 on one side headstocks for this and the Silver Sky.
I like the way "near field" width pickups sound, as full sized Humbuckers tend to be too dark and Single Coils tend to be too bright for my taste. Why are they using a Push/pull pot instead of a Push/push pot? I've seen enough videos that show guitarists fumbling around or having to be painfully slow and deliberate to engage a Push/pull pot to recognize that's not a good design. There's probably only a few dollars difference in price, and the Push/push pots look like a much better solution. Am I missing something? 🤷
I used to enjoy owning various different guitar and moving them on. That changed 10 years ago when I bought a Custom 22 S2. Ever since, I have a desire for other guitars every now and then but when I try them in the shop they fall well short of the playability PRS offer. I am stuck with PRS for life!
“Normally on these guitars the bass pickup is almost useless “ What? Yeah ok Paul. I love most of your models and have 9 currently. But, that statement about a Tele neck pickup…useless? This is one of the few times I’m going to come out and just say it. Stop talking stupid, you know better than that.
