This is literally the first I've heard of Dexibel. That has to be the closest emulation of a real piano in my listening experience. I have been leaning towards the Yamaha CP88, but now, oh, oh, oh. Also, the expressiveness in this young woman's playing is absolutely superb. Well done.

The velocity curve on the Casio is by default. The best setting is the curve of the Ab7 key. Once again, and what players never do, is to change the settings to get the best of the instrument.
@TylerLore
@TylerLore 5 лет назад
It sounds like she's using the Bright German Grand on the Grandstage. The Dynamics knob is turned off in the video, but you can still adjust the velocity curve through the settings menu. Curious if they changed something. My Grandstage doesn't sound this flat. She's a very expressive player and you couldn't hear any of that through the Grandstage. Something is definitely off. The Vivo sounds fantastic. I'm really excited to see where Dexibell is in a few years. Right now their keyboards just don't have enough variety in their sound bank for me. I'm sure they will get there!

Some players dont care about all that and just want a great piano sound first and foremost XD

@@nezkeys79 truth ;) that's why I choose Dexibell. Each of the platinum piano sounds eats up 40% of the internal memory capability, and people bitch about this so much - but each one is good enough on its own that it's going to be very useful for a wide range of styles and situations, so it doesn't really matter that you can't freely and instantly switch between the different platinum pianos, IMO.

very interesting, thank you very much. So I closed my eyes and listened. I imagined sitting right next to an acoustic grandpiano and that impression gave me the Dexibel. I hear the wood, the vibrations the dust. Very close simulation. The others are good but not that close. But in a band context I can imagine that the CP comes better trough the mix.

From this video (on the other one, I had a different ranking, since they were clearly different piano presets). 1- Dexibell. Breathtaking. Beautiful. As a real piano sound. 2- Casio. Yes. Casio. It has more depth and dimension than Yamaha. 3- Yamaha. Nice digital piano ... that's the problem. It does sound digital. 4- Korg. No comments. Simply unnaceptable for a classical piano sound.

For me, Yamaha just edges out the Dexibell. The Dexibell sounds a bit too mid-forward, whereas the Yamaha sounds more full and dynamically versatile. The Yamaha's CFX Grand, which is one of the piano options with the CP88, is among the most renowned pianos ever built and is found in top concert halls all over the world. Also, the Dexibell lives in the price neighborhood of a Nord. For that money you could get a Clavinova. The Casio - WOW! CASIO??? When I was younger those things were sold in the TOY sections of department stores. They've come a very long way, baby. I cannot believe how rich and full this one sounds. If I couldn't afford the others, Casio is the best sound for the money, hands down. The Korg is ... well ... uninspiring compared to the others in this demo. But it's not designed to sit on a large stage playing Rachmaninov and Chopin. It's designed to sit in a contemporary band or church, and it serves that purpose very well. We must remember that unless we are playing with the Vienna Symphony, most of our audience will not have the same discriminating ears that we have. Any of these 4 serve their purpose excellently. The important differences are not the sound or timbre of the pianos, but the touch, durability and overall ease of use of the keyboard.

Personally speaking I think that the sound of Yamaha CP88 was my choice, Dexibell was way too 'round and unclear', even far from the steinway concert grand they claimed to sample from, Casio was impressive, as for their price tags, no one would beat it at that range, what the hell with that Korg? Shouldn't sound like that...

Imho, Dexibell has the best balance all around. I would use it for Jazz, Latin Jazz, Classical, Acoustic. I like Korg as second because many Latin and Pop styles of music use that bright piano sound to cut through the band and it sounds great in context specifically Salsa, Merengue, Cumbia, Reggae etc.. I would then say Yamaha because it’s a darker warmer sound which I think is a characteristic all Yamaha pianos have. Casio is last by default. I’ve had Privia as well and they are decent to play but are very limited when trying to use in a professional setting and it gets lost in the band.
