The old tipi tent, that used to be made by Davis tent, was a great tent for scouting before deer season. They have stopped making it. They make a Herders tent that actually makes more sense because it is still portable AND can be heated with a small wood burningTent stove. The old Tipi could not accommodate a wood stove. The walls were too steep. The Davis wall tent, in 12x14, fits two huntsman nicely. We also use the rain fly over the top. That accessory helps to hold in the warmth longer. Even with a wood burning stove it is roomy. We had some wild horses come into our camp one night. My guess is that they were perturbed that we dared to camp in their pasture and attempted to knock the tent over. The tent withstood the animals until we could get outside and get some shots fired into the ground. Than we packed up and left, that night, and set up about five miles away. All this before dawn broke. Yes, the Davis tents are durable and our favorite. Plus, they stand behind the products they make.
The tentipi (Moskoselkåtan) is lighter and is made to handle a campfire instead of a stove if and when needed. It does not require guylines in the same way the box tent does. As long as you are close to trees you can cut the 5-7 or so poles to set up the tent in a few minutes. I am a swede so I may be biased and I haven't tried either but I have been looking at the tentipi for a while and searching for a cheaper alterntive without finding one.
