Who were issued tropical rucks? (Wonder since I’m doing a DAK impression, 90th light division 1942.) Any advice on that impression/should I get a ruck for it?
Zdarowa from Czechia. We call the backpack "VZ60" not "M60". VZ stands for VZOR ( same as polish wzór) meaning model - however we also have old socialist things called M60. Just a little note, otherwise good vid.
Do you know of any photos of German troops using the model 31 pack? I am putting together a set of German web gear using some post war Czech straps and pack, but can seem to find any pictures in use.
They were standard issue late in the war, instead of the tornister. They tended to have leather straps and trimming instead of canvas. Soviets also had virtually identical rucksacks (and even tornisters), with the biggest variant being colour, and riveted straps.
M31 rucksacks: Worn by early war Gebirgsjager until replacement by the Grosse Gebirgs ruck Ordered as a replacement to the tornister for the other branches in 1944 officially Used instead of the tornister in the African campaign Used by the Volkssturm Never worn into combat but worn on the march, so if you look at combat photos you won't find them
Вообще - то это рюкзаки егерей...что по горам лазили...А уж потом из экономии к концу войны германцы во всех родах войск стали пользоваться подобными рюкзаками.
World War Guy I mean, when it comes down to it, the Czech one is just a simplified version of the German version, the idea in most socialist countries are quantity over quality. When you look at price differences the Czech model looks far better.
