Basheer Zaheer of Invictus Porsche compares the Porsche 911 Carrera GTS vs Carrera S (991.1).
The Porsche 991 is the internal designation for the seventh generation of the Porsche 911 sports car, which was unveiled at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show on 15 September as the replacement for the 997. The 991 was an entirely new platform, only the third since the original 911 launched in 1963 (the 996 of 1999 was the second new platform). Production of the 991 generation ended on December 20, 2019, with 233,540 units produced.
The Carrera S has a 3.8 litre engine generating a maximum power output of 395 Bhp at 7,400 rpm and 440 Nm of torque at 5,600 rpm.
The 991 Carrera GTS sits between the Carrera S and GT3. Base options included with purchase: power output of 424 Bhp, Sport Chrono Package, Sport Exhaust System, Dynamic Engine Mounts, 10 mm lowered suspension, Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV) system, LED daytime running lights with Porsche Dynamic Lighting System (PDLS), Sport Design Front Spoiler, Sport Design Side Mirrors, GTS badging, and 20-inch centerlock wheels. When optioned with PDK, acceleration from 0-97 km/h (0-60 mph) is achieved consistently at 3.8 seconds with the help of Launch Control.

My 911 S with sport and sport plus I think when you kick on and sport exhaust when you kick on sport plus it feels like a GTS it is crazy fast loud high rev shifts in a high rev totally different animal you need to drive one. But in regular mode I can cruise I’m loving it I just got mine dream car even though it’s a 2014 I can’t be happier keep up the good work apples to apples

Tip: in future videos get two light coloured vehicles, like that white one or a silver. The features on that black S are impossible to make out when comparing it to the GTS.

Hey my 911 S991.1 has lumbar has sport Chrono has sports exhaust has all the seven buttons the 991 you showed was no options bare-bones against a beautiful GTS that probably cost $40,000 more ,come on apples to apples man get a loaded S against that loaded GTS be fair.

When you got to the lights and wheels comparisons, I zoned out already as you were wrong on both counts. The PDLS and 20" wheels are not a GTS specific set of features. My 991.1 Carrera S has PDLS and 20" wheels, Sports Chrono, Power Steering Plus, 18 way seats, PSE, and I can go on and on. The GTS does come with those things as standard, but I think you'd find most S cars already have most of these options. Your comparison is done against one of the weakest specs of the S I've seen.
@mrenigma6274

From what I have heard from the dealer and countless RU-vid videos, the GTS is a better deal if you considered doing whatever you can do to a Carrera S. And just as a Carrera S is one up from a Carrera, the Carrera GTS is one up from the Carrera S, so what is the big deal many are whining about? I lucked into my "used" 2015 Porsche 911 (991.1) Carrera 4 GTS in 2018. It was 3 years and 1 month old and had 157 kilometers on it (98 miles). It has $45,620 in Porsche factory options and the previous owner had Xpel PPF applied, another expensive option. And best of all, it is a Manual as I would never have considered a PDK having driven both. My Durametric showed no "over-revs" in any of the six ranges, and no repaints using my Defelsko paint thickness gauge, which one would expect with that mileage, but it was worth checking. So in the end I got to break-in the engine properly and I basically got a new car that I could not longer get.

Have a 991.2 2019 GTS and when I see people say you can option a Carrera S the same as a GTS I realise they have no idea how much diffence there is between to two. The GTS is brutally quick any more power although my next car will be a Turbo S risks loss of license on the streets because these cars encourage fast launches

I am looking at a 991.2 GTS cabriolet as sort of my “achievable” dream car, but the prices are still way too high on them. Runner up might be a 2011-2012 GTS cab, closer to my budget range. But finding color combinations that I’d want is nearly impossible. The S is widely available, so it is a question of waiting for that perfect moment which could be months or years, or going with the S and getting to driving!

I know this video is older, but I subbed today because i like you and the channel. I want to add this comment to update this in 2022: I’m having the same problem finding a GTS used. They are rare, and massively overpriced used in the USA as stated. Are they better than a loaded “S” with Sport Chrono, Pasm, Sports Exhaust, and the right interior options? They might be slightly better when NEW because of the extra power. But i would argue that the couple used GTS models i have driven have been abused, which I think is common because GTS buyers are more prone to drive them hard. The GTS also drove rough, like the suspension had literally shaken loose the interior parts of the car. The S models I have driven didn’t sound like rattle buckets, just my opinion, and I’m sure there are some good low mileage GTS examples out there, but they are so overpriced i don’t even look at them. I would argue that if your buying used, your options and chances of finding a good clean used example are much better with a C2S or C4S. As a first time 911 buyer, I’m actually kind of discouraged by the prices I am seeing people pay for used 911’s. Yes, good for resale, but it’s like buying a stock that’s seriously overvalued, you just don’t feel like it’s a good investment from the get go……I also want to say (and many will flame me for this) I have a Tesla performance model I daily, and I’ve beaten most of the Porsches in it I’ve raced (except a 911 turbo and turbo S), and I’m having a really hard time spending 6 figures for a car that is slower than my Tesla, but i still want a 911, because of the corner carving and pedigree of the brand, and because it’s been my childhood dream for 40+ years….I must one a 911 before they stop making the gas ones, an electric 911 will never be the same. Owning a 911 is a bucket list item for many people, me included, and I’d sell a kidney if needed to get one, no joke 😊
@invictusporsche
@invictusporsche Год назад
Get yourself a 911 and will definitely be happier than being in the Tesla. We have 3 Teslas at the moment and we do use them but they don’t compare to the 911. 911s are not about the speed but the handling ability, the engine noise and if these things are important to you then you cannot go wrong. Every sport car enthusiast at some point must own a 911, it is the benchmark in our opinion of what a good sports car should be. I think a well optioned S would suffice for you and the difference isn’t huge but those with big bank account wouldn’t mind spending the extra on the GTS.
@jdjames997
@jdjames997 Год назад
@@invictusporsche thanks for the reply, I agree with you. Do you think buying a 991.1 vs a 991.2 is the way to go? I know the newer ones make a little more power, and have updated tech, but it seems like value wise the 991.2 may just depreciate? Let me know your thoughts, I’m leaning towards a 991.1, but the pricing for a 2017 or 2018 is almost the same as a low mileage 2015-2016….

My cars journey closely mirrors yours. I enjoyed driving a red Tesla Model 3 Performance with a white interior for nearly two years until a rear-end collision with a truck resulted in its total loss. The Tesla, with its quick acceleration, all-wheel drive, and low center of gravity, made it a joy to drive in various weather and road conditions. At 35 years old, my dream car has always been the Porsche 911. After extensive research, I set my sights on the 991.1 N/A engine 4S due to its widebody, equipped with PSE and Chrono Package. However, finding the perfect combination proved challenging. As I delved deeper into Porsche 911 videos, the 997.2 caught my attention as the sweet spot for enthusiasts. Learning about the GTS variant with a manual RWD widebody made it clear that this was the ideal choice. The harsh reality set in when I discovered only one such model for sale nationwide in Virginia, priced at $120k with 41k miles. Undeterred, I eventually stumbled upon a Black on Black RWD Manual Transmission 2012 997.2 GTS, Selling at KBB price recommendation, the owner didn't know the real value of the car!. The car, with its unique characteristics, felt perfect to me. It's smaller than the 991.1, and the driving experience was unparalleled. I did test drive the 2023 911 as well, appreciating the rev-match feature and the car's sound. However, the $170k price tag made it challenging for me to justify the purchase. In the end, the uniqueness and driving experience of the 997.2 GTS won me over.

I have to agree with Sean and Ramon. I have a 2014 991.1 "S" "Cab" almost fully spec'd with the exception of PDCC and my car has great sound and amazing handling with PASM. I kept the thumbs up and subscription with notifications because I understand what you are trying to do, and I support anyone who digs any 911... But you should also talk about availability and pricing as well, especially here in the US. I have been looking for a low milage example of any S spec 911 or above for at least three years... now the GTS or any higher spec is virtually impossible to find and then what you pay for them is insane... I won't say what I spent on an 8-year-old car, but it was well into the ???-figure territory, and yes, the GTS will set you back well more then 20k US and more like 40-60k depending on milage. Granted mine only had 3500 miles on the clock and I got a two-year CPO warranty because I purchased from my local Porsche dealer... The short of what I am saying is I am proud enough to put my car next to any GTS. It almost felt like you are "S" shaming... when even a base Carrera is a worthy car... But Hey, I get where you are coming from and where you are going in the video...

How not to sell a Carrera 991.1S! 😀 That S could be and probably is someone’s dream car they can just stretch to and a never going to happen for the majority. A salesperson’s job should be to make even the smallest, cheapest box in the shop feel as valid as the most expensive. I’d feel uncomfortable buying anything less than a GTS from you knowing how you’ve dissed the S. Sure, point out the differences but you’ve absolutely panned the S here.

This video feels disingenuous. There are certainly differences between the C2S and the GTS, but much like has been deliberately designed by Porsche, these differences are in gradients, not black and white like Basheer is presenting. Take the heritage and pedigree section for example. You will absolutely get laughed out of the room if you were to suggest that the 911 Carrera lacked heritage and pedigree. Thats not to say that model lines of the the GTS doesnt have an interesting pedigree as well, but you really lose credibility when you make something that is quantifiably subtle gradation differences and instead create a comparison more akin to a GTS to a Ford Focus.
