Both Korg and Yamaha did a wonderful job here. Not much to complain about. It would be nice if the prices could be brought down, but these are well built keyboards. Both have their strengths. Not all sounds can be compared because reverb and EQ is often different and can be adjusted. Yamaha really does a great job with acoustic instruments overall, but I feel Korg has really improved their game in this area as well. Overall the Yamaha PSR-S775 gets a slight nod, but I'd take that Korg too.

Are the 2 so differently master EQd? are both EQ flat or has the Yamaha more treble added? The Yamaha sounds a bit louder also? Yamaha shows more stereo effect and Korg sounds more mono? I wonder if the whole thing is biased to show of the Yamaha, from this I prefer the Yamaha. Is there stereo widening settings on both or non?

Both keys have its strengths, if I could afford both, I'd buy both... But yamaha wins on the piano sound for me. Which of the two is more affordable, I will of course pick the one that matches my budget. Thanks for the review!

Hello Jeremy.Love Yamaha.Use Yamaha Clavinova at home .Great value for money.Lovely piano,but as for Live I always used a Korg .Great sounds onstage.Lovely feel robust instrument.Just my opinion.

It's funny that Yamaha sounds brighter in that video, because every single gig I played with Yamaha they just couldn't cut out the mix through full band arrangement

I believe the Korg has more in depth editing capabilities than the Yamaha The Korg, you would be to tweak the individual instrument sounds to more warmth, fullness, brighter, etc. Thankyou for the video, very informative.

For the skeptics, there's a video of a Korg staff presenting the PA1000 at a convention in Germany. Even tough I keep hearing the same difference. Yamaha has better sounds, Korg are good but they don't sound as real. I bought the sx700 and I couldn't believe what was coming from the speakers as I was playing the same I always play, I was astonished. The reason is that Yamaha is a bass, drum, guitar, brass, manufacturer, who would you expect to have better samples. I think probably korg gives you more options, editing, configuring, and more features for the money paid.

Hi Jeremy, I currently have Yamaha PSR-I455 and as now I'm in Grade 6, I'm planning to upgrade my keyboard. But, I'm really confused between PSR-S975 and PSR-S775. I don't sing, so the VH2 chip is of no use to me. Will the extra voices and styles be of any use in my Trinity exams? Or should I buy the PSR-S775 over the PSR-S975? Will the PSR-S775 satisfy my needs? I have no plans of recording or production. Thanks in advance, Parth

I have a question for you Jeremy, Why do you think these arranger keyboards come with a very limited memory.? especially the Korg arrangers? These are not cheap instruments , they cost over $1,000 (US dollars) but come with a memory of barely lousy 200~500 mb, not even 1GB !?? I cannot load a lot of samples to my arranger keyboard because i get a massage stating it has reached its full memory capacity. Nowadays we have super cheap and tiny smart phones that come with a 64~128 GB memory capacity but these expensive and big arranger keyboards can barely hold 250-500 MB ? Most Workstation keyboards do come with abundant memory capacity so why they don't apply the same technology to arrangers? I'd like to know your input on this. Greetings!

Both keyboards technically is of high quality, and so is their articulation systems, but Yamaha is far ahead in actually putting some nice instrument samples in the machine that uses the articulation system 100% I generally wouldn't ever buy an small arranger in this price range, but hands down .. the Yamaha have a good selection of the exact same sounds as their top line Tyros 5 /Genos models. I am actually surpriced how much of the sounds that is directly derived from both keyboards bigger brothers. They both sound nice. The Yamaha is still far superior tho soundwise. Not sure how much extra sample sounds you can load into these. But if you go up to the top line .. the Genos / Pa4-pa1000 the problem is the same for Korg. Yamaha totally kills the Korg (and pretty much everything else on the market) out of the box. Their sounds is top notch and the SA system is fairly easy to learn to use. However, if you want to throw a considerably amount in some sample libraries from WaveArts into the Pa4 then it gets interesting cause they are at least on par with Yamaha's sounds if not better. but they are also very expensive, and I don't think that many home musicians will throw maybe the same amount as the keyboard cost itself after these expensive sample libraries, and I kinda don't get Korgs philosophy of throwing keyboards , especially arrangers on the market without a top of the line sample library. I can understand it in the Kronos, wich is a massive and highly complex synth workstation where its up the user to work with the different sound engines, but an arranger ... Those are generally for people that DONT want to spent their time programming sounds, that wanty to select a rhythm accomp, some sounds and start playing right away. Korg really need to up their game here.

Quite frankly, even though there might be more frills and thrills in the Yamaha SA sounds, globally I like the Korg much better. The comparison gives the feeling that the PSR S775 is brighter so that it will suit a one-man band and help him/her convince his/her public, while the Korg PA700 seems more pro and the sounds are leaving more space for other musicians. The Yamaha samples seem to have been there for ages, even in the middle range of keyboards. By the way, are you happy with your Yamaha headphones and what model are you using on this video? I need new headphones to play with the DGX650 and the Casio CT-X800 and Yamaha came to my mind. Will you do some more tutorials ? I am currently learning Ed Sheeran’s “Perfect” and the sheet music and video tutorial you made is really helpful. Have a nice Sunday 😎

It sounds more like an EQ difference between the two. I think both sound great, but I often find that Korgs just need an EQ adjustment.

Good video! I am a big fan of your videos, but in this one I think you've left some unanswered questions. 1. Yamaha sounds stereo, while Korg sounds mono. Why? Because Korg isn't capable of outputting in stereo, or because you branched your equipment this way? (I'm not a Korg "advocate", I'm just curious.) 2. It's obvious that you compare the voices "as they come", i.e. with their default preset effects, EQs and settings on. You don't bother removing these, or at least try to mention which ones are present for the particular voice. When you compare voices that have effects and EQs applied, wouldn't it be better to have effects comparison too? Or, if not, comparison of the "pure" voices w/o effects? 3. OK, I understand that the Yamaha guitars were SA voices, but I didn't understand which Korg voices were DNC. Were all Korg voices DNC? Maybe if the screens of both keyboards were visible, it would be easier for us to see. In plus, you are mentioning about the screens color and touch response.

I think the tweek of the equalizer of the korg is not well optimized in the output i find not a lot of differences in both it's just for me a question of tweeking the sound. Too bad we do not listen the electric guitar and maybe in this sound we could eared many diferences. Nice video 🙏👍😏

Korg was recorded mono, while yamaha was stereo, right?

Jeremy: Parts of the DNC on Korg Pa-series are activated by the buttons near the joystick control. This player-guy did not use them at all during this supposed comparison. That's completely unfair to the Korg. If you are making a video on Korg DNC, at least you should know how to activate those sounds from the KB.

Been trying to figure out if the EQ difference on Korg could actually surpass Yamaha sound, especially those extra details on the Yamaha SA sounds. I have been looking up on the internet the opinion is very mixed, but many pointed out that tweaking Korg enough will make it sound better than Yamaha. I want to know how much of it is true. Sigh.

i have a korg pa700 and i just adjusted the EQ and the piano sounds much better than yamaha here in the video so

I went with the Korg PA700 but sometimes I like the crispiness of the Yamaha in some instruments. But what have been mentioned previously, I also feel like it is more of an EQ setting for the most part. Now the Korg is actually way over my head in terms of functionality and I'm sure there is an EQ I can adjust (I need to read the manual, right? :D) but honestly, both are impressive at its level. Now, if only I can have my skills match what these keyboards can do, that would be great.

Yamaha psrs775 has little better sound but I would buy the korg pa700 because it has Powerful speakers and very bass full and if a sound doesn't sound realistic you can edit it and then it sounds much better and with a touchscreen is much easier but both keyboards are great

i have a pa 600 , pa 800 and a micro arranger korg. they sound nothing like this video. if you pay attention the EQ for the yamaha is brighter, and has more volume. I love yamaha products, i have a yamaha acoustic piano, an acoustic yamaha guitar and a bass electric yamaha ( i prefer yamaha bass guitar over fender). However i have always preferred KORG arrengers over yamaha. Sounds dont feel nothing like this video. and the rythms are way more natural on the korg than yamaha.

He's not using the articulation buttons on the KORG, hence the "dry flat" sounds on the instruments, particularly on the guitars. Not a fair play. At any rate, the KORG is the telecaster, YAMAHA on the other hand, is the stracoster of keyboards. It's the closest I can get to comparing these two.

Seems to me that the player is playing the pa700 more softly, also the pa700 is in mono whereas the psr is in stereo. It sounds to me that whatever is used to mix has the treble turned down,

I think it is wrong comparison. Korg's sound seemed to be like mono as if some option is turned off, while Yamaha sounds with some surround effect. Absolutely incorrect comparison. Jeremy, you didn't hear that?

You are 100 percent right, Yamaha for musical instrument samples, and reliable over the years, Korg for technology, operating system, and features, I have both

The KORG PA Series definitely has better sound quality compared to the PSR keyboards. The PSR keyboards has better styles. Apart from the sound, There are so many things which can be done on a PA series keyboard. The Sky is the limit with such korg arranger keyboards. I own both PSR and Korg Keyboards. This is my personal opinion. equally respect both keyboards.

The prs-775 has the same quality of sounds like the psr-s770 they have the same drum kits, Pianos, Epianos, the only differents is the internal memory and Splus buttons that are useles they are over priced

No doubt the yamaha keyboard has more realist sounds in general. However, both keyboards are arranges and the sounds only represent a fifth of what these keyboards can do. To make a fair comparison we would have a expand it to all the features and that's where the Korg keyboard wins. Without even playing anything, Korg's touch screen is an immediate deal breaker especially if you are a one man band. It helps a lot during a live presentation, your fingers don't have to take extra steps, you just touch the screen and viola !
