I don't like Serpico at all, I find him quite annoying actually. I think Scheircke has way more of a character ( even though she is mostly the loli of the group). The author of the video says that the abscence of the character is noticeable, I feel Serpicos's abscence is nowhere near Judeau's, besides for his link with Farnese, he could be removed quite easily and I would barely be able to tell that he is gone If It wasn't for Farnese clinging to him.

Basically he has the heart of Judeau but the brains of Griffith

And beyond all that depth is a simply really likeable guy that sacrifices himself for his friends time and time again. RIP. (As a side note, I quite like Schierke as well)

I definitely see where you're coming from, though there is the fundamental difference between the two (in my opinion) in that Judeau really cares for others.

True, I kind of see Judaeu as the preevolution of Griffith. If one is to be a military leader, they would need to detach themselves from emotions & intimate relationships. Judeau lacks that which is why I'd say he's a B-level Griffith. Possibly, if Griffith treated Judeau as a protégé type, teaching him to be more driven and warning him about developing intimate relationships, Judeau could have possibly surpassed or become an equal figure to Griffith. However, Judeau would probably turn down Griffith's teachings as soon as he saw the level of commitment he took and how he would have to remain alone mentally. If he did take Griffith's advice though, I could see him reaching the top and then reflecting on what he has done and going through a mental breakdown similar to the one Griffith had in the river when he was talking to the younger Casca, except much, much more severe, and he probably would've never recovered for it. What do you think would've happened if Judeua had received the behilit instead of Griffith?

op wfree It's a bit difficult to say. Judeau in general is a good person but obviously when a goal or a dream that one desperately wants is in sight, it's natural for a primitive selfishness to take over. The only real darkness I sense coming from Judeau stems from his regret that he's not living for himself. But as for the sacrifice, I'm still not completely sure that he'd sacrifice those close to him if his characterization was unchanged. Perhaps if, like you say, he became Griffith's protege than he would've been more inclined to do it. But even then, I doubt that Griffith would have ever considered having Judeau as a protege. What ifs are interesting to think about but it's hard to tell in this case with so much ambiguity.

op wfree I dont think so. Judeau has slight confidence issues but the difference between him and Griffith is where he places his most important values. Judeau is a very intelligent and great guy, charismatic and willing to act quickly and decisively. The difference is that Griffith thinks his dream is worth sacrificing EVERYTHING for, and his own morality is plagued by his unwavering selfishness, which disregards any and all other persons around him. Judeau is content with life enough to enjoy the moment, and he makes the most out of the simplicities of his livilihood, going with the tide and enjoying the ride. Not only that but Judeau makes it his bussiness to be there for his closest friends, its his duty and he takes it seriously as you can tell. I see him as someone different than Griffith. If he can be anything to Judeau, its that he could have had an attitude similar to Judeau about his own ambitions. Thats about the extent of it. Judeau is nothing like Griffith i think, overall.

Joseph Franc Judeau definitely lived his life that way, but ultimately, he died disappointed in himself. One of the last words he said were," I'm afraid I'm all talk." I think that he didn't just mean that in the moment but throughout his entire life. I think that Judeau and Griffith are surprisingly similar with only a few characteristics making them seem like polar opposites. The characteristics are how they value their own empathy, ambition, and drive. The characteristics are debatable, but I think they are definitely close. Judeau is like a compassionate Griffith, he can't detach himself enough to let people suffer the Griffith does.

I really loved Ping-Pong. I adore sports and sports psychology so I finished that anime in one night and loved every minute. I definitely plan on making a video on it. Don't know exactly when I'll start working on it, but you have my word that it'll happen :)

He was my favourite golden arc character by far .... but you must say , that dead screen , and all the run to save casca ... it was realy his biggest moment like , legit , for someone that din't read the rest of the manga and pick up that chapter , he would be the protagonist , the hero of the history he died to early , but at least got his spotlight , and helped to make guts become what he is now , my favourite manga character ever ....

I'd still have preferred more Judeau.

The little detail i love about Guts after the eclipse is he began to use the same exact throwing knives as Judeau as if he did inherit that style from Judeau like a tribute to him.
