EVMS Compassionate Crisis Care” is a series of videos and supplementary training materials to improve the quality of behavioral care in nursing homes during pandemics and disasters.
This effort was funded by a CDC Nursing Home & Long-Term Care Facility Strike Team and Infrastructure Project grant by way of a CDC Epidemiology and Laboratory Capacity (ELC) Cooperative Agreement with the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) and its Virginia LTC Infrastructure Pilot Project (VLIPP) program to Eastern Virginia Medical School. The Principle Investigator is Paul F. Aravich, PhD, Professor of Pathology & Anatomy, Geriatrics and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (aravicpf@evms.edu) at Eastern Virginia Medical School, Norfolk, VA. (www.evms.edu/) The grant title is: Strike Teams and the COVID-19 LTC Facility Behavioral Health Crisis. It is a partnership with the internationally recognized Standardized Patient program at Eastern Virginia Medical School; the nationally recognized documentary production expertise of VPM Media Corporation in Richmond, VA, which provides NPR and PBS programing; and with a Statewide Steering Committee of experts on, e.g., nursing homes, aging, the dementias, brain injury, and pandemic/disaster relief.
