This was a political murder. Cauchi was among the handful of accounting practitioners in Malta in the late 1970s and early 1980s. At the time, the island was experiencing very turbulent political times, dominated by rampant institutionalised corruption. His clients included a group of people connected to the Malta Labour Government Minister Lorry Sant, the only high-profile Maltese politician ever to be found involved in corruption by the Permanent Commission Against Corruption.
How about KAREN CRECH? Someone said that he knows who was involved!!! As far as I know Mrs Cauchi ended up having a relationship with the police inspector on the case!! The issue in Malta is both political parties are corrupt and most of the time they are involved together.
