So why not rent the prompter? If you’re not sure if you want it, using it for a paying job and then returning it seems like kind of a dick move
@Cinovamedia
@Cinovamedia 6 месяцев назад
Looked into teleprompter rentals, the established places you can rent from were teleprompters that were more industry standard and honesty overkill for what I was doing so I decided to get an off brand one from Amazon. As of now I still have the teleprompter and am leaning towards keeping it as it was helpful and probably will be helpful from future gigs from this client.

I was hooked when you said 55 scripts in one day! I run a company based out of San Antonio and travel all over. Keep up the work! I'll be following your journey!

Haha it was ALOT of scripts to go through, long day but client seemed happy which is the most important part.

Definitely keep it, My experience you will be needing this. You can sell it as an add on for all your interview shoots

I would spend as much time as possible networking, assisting other filmmakers, and shooting spec projects to build out your portfolio and network, networking will get you the most amount of calls back...just got off the phone with someone who wants to hire me as a cinematographer for high end luxury weddings and it was just because I was constantly networking with other creatives for work. We'll see what comes from that.

Great video bro!! I feel you on thinking about returning the teleprompter, I had a gig that required one so I went to my local camera store and bought one, I had a 30 day return policy on mine, so right after the shoot I returned it because I honestly don’t get a lot of jobs that ask for one, so I’m just at the point in my career where I’m not going to buy nothing that I’m just going to use here and there, if I don’t take it on almost every shoot then I’m not buying it, because I spent wayyyyy to much money on stuff that just collects dust or stuff that I use once every 3 months lol
@Cinovamedia
@Cinovamedia 6 месяцев назад
yeah that's true. It is helpful in corporate only cause I've had clients ask midway through the shoot if theres a teleprompter and of course they didn't request it so I would never rent or buy one for the shoot. I had a gig that would have required it but seems like it fell through so it's probably heading back to amazon. Atleast I know which teleprompter to order if I need one within a 2-3 day notice.

I know this might seem out of the blue but out of curiosity what insurance do you use to protect your gear
@Cinovamedia
@Cinovamedia 6 месяцев назад
@@maddogtank8425 I actually don't have gear insurance OOPs. At some point I will get it but I'm relatively new to freelancing but as the work becomes more consistent will def look into getting some insurance!

Nice. I would like to see the final product :D Question. Did they read the scripts before or they've seen them that day? I would expect them to rehearse them beforehand, but I got a feeling like they never seen them before.

Just snagged myself a cart on amazon as well, def worth the investment in taking care of your body and looks pretty professional in the long run haha.
@Cinovamedia
@Cinovamedia 6 месяцев назад
Yeah, my friend isn’t using his so I’m free to borrow it whenever which is nice. Still trying to look for the best cart I can use once I buy my own. We’ll see how well business is and I’ll update everyone in the vlogs if I end up buying a cart.

I love the idea of working with a producer - I’m typically the one running the interviews and the cameras, so I have to play both roles. I’m curious why they opted to go for teleprompters vs. conversational interviewing - every time I’ve had someone try to read something it comes off so disingenuous. 😅
@Cinovamedia
@Cinovamedia 6 месяцев назад
Yeah it was nice having someone there to be the main contact and be a second set of eyes for sure. Especially since I didn't get a ton of info about the shoot before. They needed a teleprompter because alot of these were scripts made for tiktok ads so they had to say what the marketing company wrote out for them. We had a break in the day where we did some off the cuff stuff like testimonials and intros for the team members but 90% of the stuff recorded were just them facing direct to camera reading scripts.
@rivvidproductions

@@Cinovamedia that makes sense if you need to hit key points for the ads. Great video man! You gave me a lot of good ideas for some talking points in one of my next vlogs!

Victor i love your videos - i watch every one! My business is mainly photography but in the past year i've done as much video as photo. Watching your videos has been incredibly helpful in helping me plan and execute my jobs. Lately I've found it hard to land bigger clients. Do you think investing in Sony for video (FX3, FX6, etc) would be a good move down the line? It seems like everyone shoots Sony and it seems to be the most marketable camera package. I currently shoot Fujifilm but I'm finding that to be a friction point when it comes to landing gigs with larger clients ($$$). They are either looking for something specific or aren't interested in having to match footage in post. Most of my current work is creating social content for small businesses and RU-vid videos for a local fitness company - but I'm having a hard time expanding without feeling like I need to upgrade the package.
@Cinovamedia
@Cinovamedia 6 месяцев назад
Hey! I'm glad you like my videos, trying to make them as entertaining and informative as possible. My thoughts on cameras: No camera is going to magically make you a better filmmaker, I have the FX3 because I've been a big fan of sony for years and it took me a solid year of using the FX3 every single day as our main cameras at my previous production company for me to even be sure it's the right choice for me. Every now and then I do have clients and production companies who require certain camera packages (mainly sony) but I don't think it should matter because when I was shooting high end weddings I was working with luxury photographers who got paid $10K+ for a wedding and they would shoot on Canon 5D mkiii's with busted or cracked screens. If 90% of your clients are requesting sony then to keep their business you might want to switch but if its only 10-15% of clients you should stick to your current system until you can afford to make a big switch like that. A real client who trusts you completely shouldnt care what camera you have, they should only care about the results you give them. Just my 2 cents.
@ijovy3
@ijovy3 6 месяцев назад
@@CinovamediaThanks for taking the time out to answer! i agree the camera doesn't change the work i create, most of my clients now don't actually care. My photography clients have NEVER cared what camera i use, however as I'm stepping into the video space i've been turned away from really good gigs and some second shooting gigs just because I don't shoot Sony. I think for now I'll continue to market myself to smaller businesses and just keep creating better videos until I have a bigger budget to make such a huge switch. Thanks again Victor! look forward to the next video

Why didn’t you bring someone to assist you? Two cameras a teleprompter etc etc. That’s a lot of gear and prep for one person. I hope the job paid well. Although apparently not well enough to hire an assistant.
@Cinovamedia
@Cinovamedia 23 дня назад
Job paid well..for one person a little lower than my typical day rate but I was free and nothing wrong with filling some dates on the calendar, but yeah it would have eaten into my cost a little bit for an assistant.
