Dude, such a great match, so happy for you. Could you do a video on half-guard and how to better recognize opportunities for the back-step? Is it just a matter of proactively pummeling the legs more? I try to do it but I usually end up getting stuck in some upper-belt’s half-guard.
Definitely I will soon. It's one of those things you kinda just feel though. I go loose and relaxed with my movements and when I feel an opening explode quickly with the back step. Gotta make people feel comfortable and they'll make mistakes :)
Bitcoins price ranged from 5000 in sept to almost 20000 in dec. if u got 300$ worth of bitcoin when 1 btc was 5000 it would be worth about 4100 Canadian today.
Keep up the good work Jordan! I really like your channel. I’m only a white belt so I have very long ways to go in BJJ, but I love every chance when I can get on the mat. Your videos are awesome learning tools for me. Especially like the ones with slow motion.
Amazing Jordan, i am always surprised by how good stamina you have when doing your rolls but seeing a roll that long and that you still has a sharp mind all the time even when your body isnt at his peak its just beautiful, hopefully i will reach that in the future
Man, I love your videos dude. Been browsing the channel. Commentary is so helpful in my opinion. Also, those were some really nice over under passes! Definitely going to try and remember to look for that back step early. At 13:26 when you back step, how do you prevent his butterfly hook from following you and then sweeping you? Or had he lost the hook at that point? I definitely love back stepping but some of the guys at my gym have really good butterfly half guards and it's really hard to stop the hook from following my leg.
Thanks man Im really glad to hear you like the channel. Really makes me happy to think about someone browsing through and watching multiple. Same thing I do when I find a channel I like! That's an excellent question. I wish it was in slomo so it could be seen easier but do you see how I don't just back step? I move my hips closer to his first to direct his hips towards the sky rather than let his hips move freely side to side. Unless you have torn ligaments, your knee can't turn sideways. So by bringing his hips towards the sky, he cant follow me to the side. He can only go up and down. If he could move his hips to the side then he could follow me with his butterfly hook to the side. It's that subtle movement before the back step that ensures the success of the back step. In fact the more to the other side I can direct his hips the less effective his butterfly hook will be. Hope that makes sense! I do the exact same thing with over underpasses.
Dash $33.00 BCH $29.00 NEM $17.00 Unfortunately the guys paid you in random altcoins. If it was $300 of BTC is would be worth ~ $900 now. Not to mention if it was other more successful altcoins. I guess there is some solace in the fact that you lost your password.
Dude, I love this, I haven't done bjj in over 2 years due to life but with this content I feel like taking notes is extremely easy and beneficial. Wanted to ask about COVID, does your gym require a vaccine / test and do other gyms do or don't require it?
The style points sweep from failed side control is something I'm just now seeing after 12 years of consistent Bjj , don't know how I missed it but I can already tell it's going to be a beast of a move, thanks for all the time and editing, I like your stuff.
Frekn hell man, what a match. Way to leave it out there! Way to persevere and achieve! Gosh man, it was so odd for me to see you working such a defensive game but made more sense when you mentioned you just made brown belt during the time of this video and the fact that it was sub-only. Not to mention how dangerous of an opponent you had on your hands Liked that switch you pulled when he attempted to take your back. Great scrambles, you weren’t kidding man, I was getting exhausted for you lol. You mentioned how many fail to use or see a back-step when training. I think most people would attempt it but it may make them feel vulnerable when doing so, say if someone in a prior roll had used that space to explode for a sweep or to recover position. Nevertheless, I love a good back-step when it’s available tho. What’s your background in grappling? What did you do before jiujitsu? Once again, great commentary and footage! Mahalo 🤙🏾🤙🏾🤙🏾
Glad you enjoyed the match! I almost didn't upload it to be honest. I thought it was too long and noone would watch it lol. Glad to hear it's both watched and enjoyed! Started BJJ March 2012 and before BJJ I mostly just played soccer my whole life. Always have been an athletic person so I knew I would excel in BJJ. I actually started wrestling after BJJ. About a year into BJJ. a wrestling club opened up and I trained there too for a year while also doing BJJ. Was a room of like 5 people but they taught me so much I still use today!
@@JordanTeachesJiujitsu tbh, I don’t usually watch a lot of matches, but this one sure was great to see. Many take-aways for any jiu-jitsu level, especially with your commentary. Man, what a pathway to jiujitsu, wrestling, and grappling. If they make more soccer players like you man, the grappling world better watch out lol. Thx for the response Jordan, best of luck with the next video!
I was able to send you the links to songs I have that somewhat resemble what you have in this video. I hope you find them useful. Thank-you for your time.
@@JordanTeachesJiujitsu thanks for the reply. Wish I lived closer. I’m out in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Appreciate your videos, wish you nothing but success.
@@anthonydoherty7638 thanks man! I've got some former students out in Halifax. Posted from the military. Hope I cam come visit sometime. I'd love to roll with you 🤙
You need to find your password for that crypto! Not sure the price of each when you got it as it depends when in 2017 you got it but those three cryptocurrencies will probably reach new all time highs the end of this bull cycle.
You're right, I gotta get on that! I gotta get on getting some crypto in general, but I got burned by weed stocks so now I'm trying to avoid growth stocks. Shoulda bought bitcoin back then instead 😢
@@JordanTeachesJiujitsu It depends on exactly when the crypto was purchased, but Dec 2017 was right at the top of the market cycle. Those cryptos all hit their all-time high back then and haven't been back since, so they've actually lost a lot of value--maybe as much as 90%. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. On the other hand, if you'd immediately sold those for Bitcoin back then, you'd be up at least 3x now. We're probably nearing a market cycle peak again, so if you decide to get back into crypto, be careful and do your own research #NotFinancialAdvice. Good luck, man, and thanks for the video commentaries!
@@GreeneLighte I appreciate insight man! Thank you. Crypto is beyond my knowledge so I just stay away. Got burned on weed stocks. Learned my lesson not to invest in things I know nothing about lol
@@JordanTeachesJiujitsu I’m not sure where that information came from, but BTC at its peak in 2017 was 19k, today it’s 66k, so it’s definitely worth more now.
@@JordanTeachesJiujitsu Huh? You have me mixed up with someone else... Purple since 2015! I just thought it was funny when you said, "I was just a brown belt" near the start of the commentary.
Different strokes for different folks I guess. I'm not a fan of the can opener personally. But if you want to us it feel free. I prefer to pass the guard 🙂
It just seemed strange, I've been rolling for 23 years and never heard that one. To clarify, I never trained BJJ so perhaps my etiquette leaves something to be desired?
@@samuelferrell9257 Ya I would say can openers are pretty widely considered bad etiquette across BJJ schools. Neck cranks in general are frowned up. At my gym we pretty much do every submission other than neck cranks. Most gyms do way less than we do even, and frown upon leg locks, slicers, twisters, mouth another's etc. Some of my favorite techniques lol. Do you come from more of a catch wrestling background?
@@JordanTeachesJiujitsu I started in traditional Korean martial arts (kuk sool and hapkido), and my original teacher was a wrestler and boxer before getting into Korean martial arts. When mma (nhb back then) started getting big he and some senior students at the time did a few BJJ and submission grappling seminars and started integrating those lessons into the curriculum. Been rolling ever since. Don't spend as much time on the ground as BJJ guys cuz we're also training striking, alot of stand up grappling like throwing, joint locking, come along techniques. Plus we do weapons training so we have to divide to lesson plan and work load between a lot of stuff.
Best commentary “well I just got a brown belt and I’m still kinda a noob” = Me laughing with my one stripe blue belt and feeling like a idiot everytime I make obvious mistakes. Even with a less developed leg lock game your rolling was smooth and technical. just goes to show how deep the jui jitsu waters are. That was an amazing match, so much back and forth.
