When going forward, that hop is actually slowing you down (both feet should never leave the ground like that). When going to the left and right, you are doing it much better. JMHO
The problem is that you're not able to gain the shin angle necessary for aggressive movement quickly. Put it on a timer and see what is actually faster. Keep in mind it's not a hop UP, it's a drop.
