Having just pre ordered a French army for my son this is great. Also thanks for the great channel. There aren’t many of us providing regular TY content.
The French are kinda like the Eldar of TY, very nimble and well equipped yet short ranged and fragile. Looking at the rules when I finally got the book this Tuesday, I could tell right away some vicious French lists were coming due to the unique toolkit they now have access to. Personally I’d like to see your take on an American M113 Formation with Dragon 2s. The new upgrade has increased its viability significantly imo.
I have already started to look at US forces and what can be made especially with the new dragon 2 available to them, however i had to wait for forces to update to fix the bugs with them. so hopefully you will see this in the future.
An interesting list. I'd be concerned about your lack of AA, especially the vulnerability of your LeClercs to Helos carrying high-AT missiles, especially since they'd probably only have to kill one of them (Morale 5+ :( )
in a ideal world i could drop 2 vbls and swap dcas for Rolands, which may happen after i have a few test games. good thing about Leclerc is its range as apart from Apache everyone else is ether equal or less then the main gun, so plan would be to keep them at extreme length to hopefully avoid them.
very interesting. /////////i am not sure about Le Clerc but understand your arguments. I worry about a single artillery bail or kill making a whole chunk of points slither offf the board. Innterested in hearing how this works.
I think most people who play French would rather use two units of hot gazelles for reserves and for AT, however you still need to get them on the board and due to the no moving ROF of the hot ATGM on the gazelle you then have to weather the storm of aa before even getting a chance to do damage. As for the Leclerc and arty if you don't give the arty los via a FO then there is nothing to worry about, this is why you use the speed and range plus skill of the Leclerc to keep it out of trouble.
I just got into this game with my friends and I was looking forward to playing the French. Very disappointed to see that the competitive lists are so infantry heavy, as 15mm infantry are a pretty big turn off, especially in battlefront games.
Infantry are one part of the equation, as you will notice most of the list I do are based of combined arms. These means they are built around a core formation, which in most case is infantry with support elements. You can still play with tanks, however French are in a hard spot with their tanks ether because they are not the best or too many pts
@@forwarnedforarmed220 I did notice that and I can completely understand the reasoning for focusing on infantry, best cost for output. That said, I was looking to get into this game to have tank focused battles, and it's sad to see that it's not very competitive.
You can still have tank focused lists, for e.g leo1 lists are very viable. However, the French are more infantry focused for comp play as the tanks they have available are not up to standard, the AMX 30 has poor cross and moving rof compared to other tanks in its category and while the Leclerc is a great tank it is just too expensive to make a pure list of it for comp. For a new player French are a hard nation to start out on, which is why i recommend ether US or brits.
I know a few IDF players, who have had mixed results with them. I have find them to have good infantry that if supported can be quite a good list. I may do a video in the future on them.
