@@CharlieAshman 😉👍 i also did the travel niche before, alot of time & money is needed & did get much views & subscriber in my area. So i switched to tech & gadgets talks.
It's almost the same setup that I use to film my crochet hook knitting tutorials ^^ I have a ring light, the BOYA BY-MM1 microphone and a metalic arm to hold my samsung S8 plus to shoot from above.
I'm building my channel from scratch! I'm going to be doing crafting videos - wreath making, floral arrangements, any kind of home decor items. Thanks for what you do - it's helping me with researching and spending my $ wisely.
This was incredibly informative and soooo helpful!!! I was lost in my search for a set up that wasn’t crazy expensive! Not to mention, the insane amount of products I had to sift through before I finally caved and found you guys on RU-vid! You’re lifesavers!!
I so appreciate how much detail you give us on the products. I feel confident to just go and purchase without reading the shops generic description. Oh, and the fact you give affordable products. Thank you!!
Most helpful RU-vid channel for new creators out there by far 😀😀 I have recently started a photography channel so thanks for the tips and tricks along the way 😀😀
Thank you so much for this upload Think Media! This is so helpful and I absolutely love your channel! You have inspired me to go all in on my RU-vid channel and media business this year! Keep rocking the YT airwaves and blessings to you from this new RU-vidr!🙏🏼✨😁
Thanks for sharing this set-up and helping us small content creators get the most bang for our buck! I am pleased with the quality of my videos only using an iPhone camera, but the microphone is definitely the next step for me.
this is so valuable. Personally, I only shoot with a natural light from the sun, lol. i don't yet have the money to invest in equipments tho its cheap... anyways, i hope we all grow together
The sun is a great lighting source! I've made all my recent videos without any artificial light so don't worry bout artificial light just yet. Keep pumping out those videos!
First of all, this is a really helpful video and 2nd i think im gonna look into the light/tripod for my channel as we're currently working on a new set up👍
I am going to try and start a tech channel that talks about programming and hardware! just a 14 year old with a hobby and trying to help others learn ! This video was a huge help thank you!
A great tip for people using Boya mic - If you're using Filmic Pro, you can manually change the mic input. For me this was a gamechanger. My cheap but awesome setup which has worked at least up to 2000 subscribers is: Tripod, iPhone XR with Filmic Pro, Boya Lav Mic - and some daylight! Check you some of my videos to get an idea of the quality. Oh and also I record in 4k but export in 1080p for youtube :)
wanted to share that the irig works perfect for running direct clean audio to the phone. Whether its running a guitar audio signal or lavalier. It has a built in mini mixer with headphone/amp/monitor output and volume fader.
Got this ring light and microphone and I'm pretty happy with them!! Thanks!! My channel is on weird trivia, if you like learning new random facts you might be into it :) Was going pretty well on consistency but life happened and I missed a couple weeks but I'm hopping back in so new video should be out this Thursday!!
Thanks for the information. I am setting up 2 channels. One for my hobbies and to get my feet wet in RU-vid. The second will be my professional channel to complement my business. I'll focus on management, project management, information technology, and business analysis.
I’m a RU-vidr from Japan, I am born in the Philippines and now living here as an English Teacher. My content is usually documenting my life here and comparing it with the Philippines or western culture. And RuPaul’s Drag Race!!! Thanks for this video, I’ll do the same setup.

Hi Nolan, thank you for sharing the budget friendly set up with us. My channel is about becoming debt free and saving for a rainy day and trying new things. Have a wonderful weekend. 🥰
this is such a great video for people like myself because i am a beginner for creating content on YT but i have a problem using my canon rebel t6 camera for filming and connecting it to my macbook pro 13" laptop. so as for rn i just watch videos like this to give me tips and tricks to other ways of filming my videos for YT plus its easier and cheaper.
You guys are so awesome at Think Media!! Thank you for looking out for the smaller channels. I am going to try the ring light. Do you have any pointers on which other social media sites I should be promoting my videos on? I have a cooking channel.
I'm in the Business Financial Planning Stage .. I joined the YT Community in 2011 mainly for research with no intentions of ever entering as a promoter, influencer or content creator .. due to the C-19 pandemic lockdowns and changes in the business climates I've been getting really serious about going FT online individually and consulting
Hi Think Media. Have been searching YT for a bit, looking for videos on starting up for beginners and stumbled across you video. Unlike other videos after several minutes I went back to home page to look for something that'll keep me focused. Yours did just that and I actually paused your video as I searched the links you have for the items you listed and also so I can click on the next video on how to film yourself. The RU-vid channel will be my wife's channel as she just became a Spiritual/Life Coach and received her Awkeners Certificate. I have been searching for videos on how to start a channel, equipment to buy and next will be to find an editing software program and learn how to do that with her. Thanks for this video, it was great as we both have smartphones and really just need the basic equipment that you shared with us. Looking forward to viewing more of your videos. I subscribed and hit that little bell for notifications. Cheers from Ottawa, Ontario Canada :)
I have acrylic art channel and don’t film myself at all only the art that I’m currently giving a demonstration video. I would like to know what you’d advise best camera and audio set up for this kind of channel? I’m currently using my iPad Pro to film and edit with iMovie I’m a complete novice at editing etc but try my best but seem to have gained over 60,000 subscribers since feb 2019 so not too shabby for a nanna you tuber 🤣🤣
I have the mic, will go for the ring light, my channel started few weeks ago - Expedition Hiker - I do hiking, backpacking, long distance walks and skills and tips on outdoor skills
mona ch I love guided meditations and do a few on my channel, check out Kevin MacLeod, he has a huge music library, many different styles and offers his music free to RU-vid creators if you add attribution in your description. It’s a good place to start.
You guys are amazing. We have learned so much from you guys. We have been podcasting at grandmas wealth wisdom for years helping people breakthrough to a smart stable financial future. Doing RU-vid is a lot of fun but does take a bit more thought. Thanks again!
Thank you for this video, it's been really helpful for me. I started my RU-vid channel 2 weeks ago it's about nails and it's in Spanish, I don't have the money to go big right now but that ring light its amazing. Thanks for sharing with us.. :)
I just want to thank Think Media their videos have been very helpful in starting my own channel this week. To answer the question of the day, my channel is about Dungeons and Dragons.
Wonderful tips.. I use a selfie stick that’s zip tied to my tripod for higher shots.. I didn’t use tape Because I’d the residue it might leave.. I hope this helps someone that’s starting out on a budget like me.. LOVE.PEACE. &PROSPERITY To all of you ..
This is so great to know, I have been trying to keep my costs down but there is always something else you "need" 😉 Is there not a similar mic but wireless or would you not recommend that? It seems a pain to have the wire... I have a weight loss/lifestyle/a bit of this and that channel 😊💕
Do you have any suggestions for listing for those of us with glasses? Eyes are always hidden by the reflection of the light or ring light off the glasses. Thanks! 💙💙💙
How did you produce the purple lighting in your background? Your videos are so helpful! I'd love to use your affiliate links to buy this set up. But if I'm goimg to use this set uo, I want to add the purple lighting too. How do we recreate the purple lighting that looks like it fills the room behind you? It's really beautiful.
Thanks for the tips! 🙂 I will be purchasing a mic and ring light soon. This is so helpful! My channel is about natural hair, skincare, financial planning and lifestyle.
Still brainstorming my channel and getting ready to upload my first string of videos in the next 1-2 weeks. The content on my channel will be very nerd-centric with videos ranging from movie and tv show analysis to technology reviews. I know those sound unrelated but I knew that I would get too bored focusing on one so I made my niche: nerdy content.
Hi, I am a teacher from India. Can I use the first few seconds of this video to teach the expression 'not break the bank'? I'll mention your channel in the description below my video.
Mine is entertainment and education exactly the same set up am using at the moment only the difference is am using it with iPhone11 big up think media.
I started a youtube channel last week. My weekly upload will be shot in the next few minutes. i bought a cheap tripod and the boya mic - shooting with my iphone XS. I review mobile tech in South Africa and have basic conversation to viewers about them.
I’m a 57 year old who wants to help people with degenerative brain/autoimmune diseases. Some of us are barely iPhone literate 🙋🏻♀️, so please address step by step how to record on the phone. Thank you for all the information 🙏
Lucky for you, one of his colleagues at Think Media already made it. Just search for "How to make RU-vid Videos on Your Phone START to FINISH" and you'll find it. Good luck!
