Excellent demonstration! I’ve been an EE and licensed master electrician for 27+ years. I’ve also been a volunteer firefighter/paramedic for even longer. Something I’ve noticed over the years of working structure fires, vehicle accidents and other technical rescue type operations…. Most first responders, from firefighters to EMTs to police officers are generally oblivious to the power distribution system. Mostly because wires / pole mounted transformers / pad transformers are ubiquitous in modern society. Additionally, firefighters and Rescue folk seem to feel that their issued protective gear will protect them from any/all danger. That is a recipe for disaster. This video and other similar training aids should be mandatory viewing for ALL first responders and rescuers. A dead or disabled rescuer has just become another victim and hampers the entire operation. Additionally, both victims will likely not be going home after work on such a day. When I was in a specialized “electrical emergencies” course, a fantastic course put on by NJ’s PAE&G, we were initially shown an older VHS tape showing a vehicle vs. pole accident. The wood pole was cracked in half and the top was down at eye level. The uninsulated primary conductors were lying on the ground and one was above ground level at approximately 5 to 6 feet. Initially, the rescuers walked over the wires on the ground and “ducked” under the wire suspended at eye level. This went on for approximately five minutes. Then, without warning, the recloser must have cycled which restored power to that section of line. Several rescuers, donned in full turnout / bunker gear and boots, we literally cooked as they made contact with both the ground and the primary. That video always stuck in my mind for years after watching it. Electricity is a great tour of the modern day, but it carries many invisible hazards. Please be careful and come home safe!

Its a great DEMO, I have used it a couple of times at our power plant to demonstrate just how dangerous electrical energy can be. Great work...
