nearly all batteries are : 12V, 24V or 48V . Literally just a decision on price 12V tend to be cheaper; but often if you want batteries bigger than 3 or 4 KW, 12V is not ideal. Basically 12V requires 2x thick cables than 24V which requires 2x thick cables than 48V. So its a balance how long is the cable run if its long, its better you go for higher 24V, 48V etc. Obviously if you've already purchased your inverter, that might decided the battery voltage(s) - similarly if you've already bought your solar panels that will give you certain options depending on if you parallel or series them & the parallel or series strands can be combined. You need to speak to a professional unless you are a qualified electrical or perhaps a civil engineer (who's honestly prepared to read up on fundamentals of photovoltaics & domestic mains regulations).
