I built a 640 sq ft tiny house in my backyard over the course of two years. I published 30 videos of the construction, totaling alomst 7 hours of video. I edited down those 30 videos into this start to finish "super cut", running about 2 hours and 45 min long. Hope you enjoy! If you want to make your kitchen cabinet installation a whole lot easier, just replace the drywall section where the cabinets are going with the same thickness of plywood. this way you can run the screws anywhere you need to. I even go so far as to mark locations of wires and pipes right on the plywood as you will never see anything after the cabinets go up. You will want to make sure the kitchen floor is level. If it has any rise or drop you will want to find the highest point and find the level from there. I either shim if the base gap is close or scribe cut the toe kicks to match the drop. Another fix that will save your butt down the road is to caulk the interior base joint of the sink base cabinet and drop in a sheet of linoleum that you spray glue into place. This way if anything is spilled or drip the wood will be totally protected. It will protect against stains from the chemicals stored there as well.

There may be an issue with the vent ridge. As it is a shallow pitch roof. When there is a wind driven rain. It may be blown through the venting into the home. As I have repaired 100's of homes with similar products. It may look nicer than box vents. So it may be wise to keep an eye on it.

This is the most well built, stick frame, small home I’ve seen. From beginning to end, everything was done right and there were no shortcuts. I’m curious how much all the materials cost during construction. Its obvious experience is necessary during certain components of construction. I watched the entire video out of shear curiosity for what it actually takes to build a decent home.

Back in the 80’s my parents brought a home with one side had houses in a circle neighborhood. One house didn’t like our headlights going into his back windows. He decided not to get a property survey but find the property markers by himself. He couldn’t find them and used a utility pole thinking it was the all properties. This neighbor used a metal detector to find two out of three property pins on the highway to the other road next to his neighbor. He started to build his fence half way in our gravel driveway. Mom stopped him dad said should had finished the fence cost him more money. What happen build the fence without hiring a property survey. Build the fence over to his neighbor backyard plus planted two small pine trees. Making the neighbors property much bigger.

If you hammer-drilled into the concrete piers before they reached their full four week curing time, you pobably compromised and weakened the concrete's design strength. This is why most builders set threaded "L" shaped anchor bolts into the concrete immediately after it's poured, just before it sets. Sometimes the "L" shaped anchor bolts are even welded or tie-wired to the internal rebar. That way, the concrete design strength isn't compromised/weakened, and they can continue building after the concrete has cured for one week. The full building load should not be applied to the concrete until it has cured for four weeks, or until it has reached its minimum design strength (most common design strength for concrete for residential is 3,000 PSI) (concrete used for roadwork is a soecial faster curing concrete with a high design strength to handle eoad loads while it is still curing). To measure cured strength, 6" Dia by 12" long test cylinders can be cast. "test cylinders" can be cast for testing. Typically, four test cylinders are cast, tested at 1 week, 2 weeks, 3 weeks and four weeks. All four cylinders cure for the first week in a protected area undisturbed on-site. Then at 1 week, they are removed from their molds, 1 cylinder is capped perfectly flat on both ends with a compound and tested in a machine applying pressure end to end until the concrete fails. The remaining test cylinders are stored in a temperature controlled envuronment at 100% humidity (concrete cures through a process called Hydration. Once concrete begins to set, it cures to strength best when kept at 100% humidty. If it dries out before its four week curing time, it will never cure to full strength). Often, properly mixed, transported, handled, finished concrete cures at its design strength earlier than 4 weeks, sometimes the cylinder tested at 3 weeks shows it cured to design strength. Conditions like freezing temperatures, to much water, or rapid dehydration during curing on the pour site can permanently compromise curing to design strength. Sometimes it's just delayed longer than 4 weeks. Sometimes the mix is bad and the first 3 week tested cylinders show slow curing. Delaying testing of the 4th cylinder can confirm design strength li ater, perhaps at 5 to 7 weeks. I've seen full sections of 8 to 11 cubic yards of concrete ripped out of a build because the test cylinders from a particular mix truck never cured to design strength. Typically, test cylinders are only used for commercial buildings, not residential. However, more qnd more professional builders and architects are demanding it on their residential projects. When not using test cylinders, at best, it's a guessing game, and for best results and odds of noncompromised concrete, it's best to adhere to one week undisturbed cure time before any load on curing concrete during construction, and a full 4 week curing time before design loads, keeping the concrete hydrated at high humidity without having it under standing water. It's amazing that only recently scientists and engineers are discovering why ancient Roman concrete is so much more resilient than modern concrete. The secret is, they used sea water, ash, and Quick Lime, "hot mixing" to create a Reactive Calcium component to the mix. Deposits of Calcium Carbonate remain in the "cured" concrete, so any time the concrete absorbs humidity, it activates the Reactive Calcium and it continues to "cure". It self-repairs any gradual damage, weakness and cracks it incurs. Essentially, it really never stops "curing", curing is only temporarily suspended periodically. Retired construction materials testing technician and testing project manager.

@@craftedworkshop How is it precharged when you have it in 2 pieces. The compressors precharged that what you do when you open the valve, letting the gas into the pipe. The copper pipe is just a pipe, it won't leak with nothing in it 😂 you literally had the end open on it to join it to the next piece... You needed to vacuum the lines then test for leaks using the extra fitting on the valve, after no leaks remove the vacuum then open the gas on the condenser. Where's the gas stay when you have 2 open ends joining them?
