That's a screaming good deal. Where I live, your house would have cost easy half a million to build. I would love to build a house just like yours here in Colorado. You did a great job, beautiful and so much space. I did a remodel for double your cost, on just half of my home. Good job!
Thanks so much for this video. I just purchased my own legacy acres. The timing of this video and finding this channel was perfect. I'm about to put in a driveway and have a 40x60 pole building built with a small living space. Thanks again for the video, I subscribed and I'll be catching up on all your videos.
Five years ago I built a 40' X 60' X 16' high pole building with (3) large over head doors and a full second story walk in loft with stairway to access, full concrete floor, and roof trusses on 24" centers due to the loft, and it was $60K. This past year I built a 32' X 50' X 16' high with no second story loft, roof trusses on 48" centers, concrete floor, and only (1) large over head door and it was $60K (same price). Thats how much labor and material has gone up over that 5 year period. Both built be same contractor.
I'm converting a barn/warehouse into a livable "barndominium." The bones of the building are great from the slab to the roof, but the cost to renovate is ridiculous. Permits alone will cost me $20K. Bringing electricity to the panel, $15K. Gas, $8K. The original structure is a 30 year old building that I built 35 years ago for $5K. If it weren't for mandatory compliance with state and local authorities, this renovation would be affordable and easy. They want blood.
@@matsfreedom my gosh I never heard of permits costing that kind of money for a project like that....its CRAZY!! And I know utilities are nuts also with what they charge. It cost me $9000 just to relocate a utility pole 15 feet so I could put a decent drive way in. Its like the govt complains about money revenues but then they charge so much that it discourages people from wanting to improve or do a new project. Good luck with your project
@@Jaydayallday I dont see many people going over 16", but I am sure you could. Width (40") was the big item with our supplier. Over 40 got real expensive quickly.
3/17/24..Just caught your video, loved your 'straight talk' on sizes, 60'x40'x14'H costs, $64K for your (delux) pole barn, 90°frt porch with ccfloor, 2-big farm doors for equip + man door + bunch of windows. Very nice 'straight' talk here! Inside framing for 2nd upper storage with stairs, HD floor beams etc. This barn will be Delux! Looks great! 1st time viewer, 👍&subscribed. Stay safe & carry on🔧⚙️💪🍺😊
@@jimmerrithew453 no, New Orleans area..78 yrs. Much enjoyed your video, straight talk, costs, few $$over runs explained, then walk inside. Everything was great! A+ video!
I agree with Paul. I bet in Canada that would run about 200K. Thanks for sharing the numbers you two. I bet it will help a lot of people put budgets together. Cheers, Mike.
I just watched your video and my family is moving to your neck of the woods in the near future. Thanks for the referral, we’ll be sure to let them know where we found out about them.
Thanks for sharing! It really helps people understand what they are getting into. I think I’m on phase 50 or something now and the costs keeps going up. It’s nice to enjoy it all at the end of the day though!
Good morning Joe. Appreciate you stopping by and commenting. I do not think that I will ever finish on this project. I will always want more. Thanks again for stopping by.
You have a pretty darn nice building Tod. Everything is so expensive nowadays. There is so much potential to structure / set up things that will work / function best for you. In my area it would cost over 100k to replicate what you have. Looking forward to future videos to see how you set things up. Take care and enjoy!
I got a quote for the same size structure which was for only the cost of the structure and erecting. 175k and did not include site prep, foundation, no insulation, nor electrical. I figured the total would have been close to 275-300k complete. that quote was 3 1/2 years ago. Can’t imagine what that would cost today. Insane! We’re in northern CT.
I know you know this now after having done the build, I always tell my customers the pad needs to be 8' bigger than the footprint of the building. I say, "If I can drive my machine on the pad all the way around the build during construction, you'll be able to comfortably get around the building after construction." I started doin pads in addition to the building because well over half of the pads were not big enough, not square, and/or out of level. All problems when doing a building with concrete.
I think ~$15k for 6" and 4" combo in a 40x60 plus the porch is a very good deal. Sounds like legacy did you right. $6200 for the dirt work seems high depends on how much fill dirt was brought it. Overall, $65k for everything, not bad.
I was looking at a 16x52 Portable building, but by the time I payed for it, it would have cost the same so now looking at pole barns again in a different lite.
Having my 50x70x16 post framed building now. Just the building is over 200K, the concrete is ridiculously expensive. just under 100yds of 6" and 5yds of 4" approx. 65K. This is in VA - Easy Coast. Whew!
Hey Todd do you have anyone I could reach out to from the place where you got that package? I'd be very interested in seeing what they can do for me ,and nice part is I can do 95% of the work myself
Hi Mike. We dealt with Glen Coblentz 270-887-0488 ext. 109. Let him know that Tod and Judy Marquith recommended him. Might give you a leg up with pricing. Good Luck! Let us know how it goes. Again, nothing in it for us, but would love to know about it.
Thank you very much ,I defiantly will tell him you sent me ,very nice build u have .that's what I want but only the doors on the front ,so I will be getting a hold of him
I think you got this size of building and related work done on the less expensive side. Im checking on costs for same size in nebraska, and its looking like $150k.
I've been talking to a builder about doing a similar project. He was talking about insulation, to combat "sweating". Is this something you talked about or is it BS?
We put a light insulation - with vapor barrier on ours. I think it is a good idea to at least have a barrier, but that something that is personal preferrence. Thank for stopping by.
The problem is that, even with a detailed breakdown, it'll never be accurate everywhere, or even in the same area over time. Prices are very regional and change constantly. At best, it's only a rough estimate. To truly get an accurate detailed bid, you need to contact the builders in your area...all of them...and get quotes. Be very specific on your requirements and make sure it's an apples to apples comparison. That means you probably need to have your detailed plans before you contact a builder. Even then, the bid is only good for a limited time. So, as interesting as it might be to hear what someone else paid for something, it probably won't be all that accurate in terms of what the price is elsewhere.
I totally agree with you. I assumed people would understand this fact, but probably should have thrown a "disclaimer" in there. Thanks for your feedback!
@@MarquithLegacyAcres our plan is to eventually turn into a barndominium …thing is..here in wisco they charge out the ass n don’t like callin back..can’t call back I can only imagine work ya doin n if sumthin wrong then ya won’t answer for that either..its hard out here..I will put barn up myself with a few friends but concrete I don’t do..tried n not my thing..leave that to the ones that do every day n learned the do’s n don’t’s 😉
Good morning Jim. No...we did not need permits or an inspection. In Kentucky, if you own a certain amount of land (I thiink it is 10 acres), you do not need a permit to build a farm type structure. The only inspection that we had was from the company that we bought the materials from. They wanted to make sure that everybody did a good job of building the structure. I hope this helps.
Beautiful! Love the wrap around porch. I would have put sheathing under that steel on the porch cause it’s gonna be loud if you want to sit out there when it’s raining. Great build!
Looking for a land ??? Do you have land suitable for agriculture or a sheep farm? ? Is water and electricity available? And it has a small house? How many spaces are available and prices? And the possibility of installments??? Cheap price ???
I am a full believer in doing things yourself, but this size project was a little big to do without some help. Next time, I will do the excavating myself, for sure. Thanks for your input.
