Coincidentally, I found out about her just a few weeks ago, when searching RU-vid about those who devoted themselves to a vocation - a subject that has recently fascinated me. Having watched a few interviews and speeches featuring Sr. Bethany, I am fascinated by her journey and her mission. She exemplifies the joy that comes from a life dedicated to service. So many people, when thinking about religious vocation, focus on the sacrifice and what you have to give up. Sr. Bethany's life and the way she expresses herself shows that its not a life of deprivation, but a life of enduring abundance. I feel uplifted when I hear her speak.

You and your stance on abortion are why he has so fun I hate religion so much. You must be really ignorant to believe that outlawing abortions will stop. them , what about ectopic pregnancies? The countries with the lowest abortion rates have legal abortion along with high access to sexual education and family planning resources. For example, the abortion rate in Brazil is 32 per thousand women while in the US it is 20 per thousand women. In the UK it is 15 per thousand women. This is despite abortion being criminalized in Brazil since 1940.
Also, Brazil women have strings up their backsides and call them swimsuits. Brazilians in general flaunt their sexuality. Brazilians have a lot more sex outside marriage. There is only one way that humans are conceived. Doing much more more of that one thing leads to a greater number of births that are created but not necessarily sought out. Holding up sex for the sake of sex rather than viewing sex primarily as a means to procreate leads to far more pregnancies that aren’t wanted.

@@Leena-qb7nm No, the ineffectiveness of banning abortion is more like the ineffectiveness of banning alcohol. People produced and drank alcohol despite it being illegal because society did not actually see it as taboo and so did not respect the laws restricting it. People get abortions despite any restrictions in place not only because it is not actually considered taboo, but additionally because it can literally be life or death for them. There is inelastic demand for abortions as a form of medical care and people will do anything to aquire them if it means saving their life or their health.
@@Leena-qb7nm Increasing family planning and contraceptive access makes abortions unnecessary, whereas banning abortion does nothing to remove the demand for the procedure. And sorry, society does not and never has and likely never will consider abortions to be murder. The implications of doing so are far too disruptive considering the nature of miscarriages and legal personhood.

This sister Bethany Maddona, can not talk about being married or being a mother. She has experienced neither in reality. It's Catholic belief that nuns and religious sisters become Brides of Christ and spiritual mothers to everyone they serve. Priests have The Church as their bride and become spiritual fathers to everyone they serve. St. John Paul II wrote about spiritual motherhood, something that every woman is called to do.

The exceptions in the abortion restrictions don’t specify what “life of the mother” means, and so the lawyers are taking the maximalist position (that a woman has to be literally on the verge of dying before any action can be taken) in order to avoid having to go to court and test the definition because that is an expensive process. Hospitals are businesses, after all, as much as I wish they weren’t, they are prifit driven and will do anything to avoid having to pay legal fees.

Hey i had a response on a tread about abortion - the person said if a woman is abused and chooses to have the child the father automatically has rights to the child at birth? Including anyone abused or raped ect cannot adopt their child ? I doubt this is the case but I just wanted to seek information from those more knowledgeable.

Just seems odd that there is a group of nuns encouraging woman to have babies, but have personally taken a vow of celibacy and to never have their own babies. Seems like they would be better just getting married and having their own babies.
