JD, that is an amazing dial. I serviced a 7750 and an ST19 chrono movements. Too complicated for me. Got them working but never again.

They said to support your local establishments. I took a watch to a local repair shop. It has been there for two years.

If I were to take that much time, I would first make sure the customer fully understood and had no issue with it.

Hey JD, great video as usual. I have a pocket watch, a Hamilton 940 with a balance which is out of alignment .... way past my abilities! I’m in the UK but happy to post it out. It is in great condition and with a salesman case. I love it and just want to see it working again. Everything else on it is shiny and in good working order.

Email me pictures at jdwatchservice@gmail.com Not sure what “out of alignment” actually means. You will need to be more specific. Does it Run. Is the amplitude of the balance low. Etc

Hello, Sir! There is some tool on chinese marketplace for traceless removal stuck chronograph hands. It costs around 200 bux, but in fact it is a priceless tool.

Hi JD Richard. Thank you very much for all the effort you put in making this video and sharing it with us! I can now fully service any mechanical movement with no complications as a beginner. I would like to ask you what I can do to switch to mechanisms with added complications? I feel a bit nervous and don't really know what will be the most suitable added complication to work with. Thanks!

I watched when you removed the balance. Is there no hole jewel under the wheel? I know there is the shock absorber incabloc which in part is a flat jewel with a spring keeping it in place. If there is an upper incabloc system in the balance cock, will it be the same as the lower? When I took off the balance from the watch there is no hole jewel there. What then would keep the pivot from remaining upright. So at least there should be a top hole jewel, if it is not found in the bottom. I may have to put a hole jewel in my watch in the bottom………. When a watch cones to me that has been obviously worked on…..The amplitude was low and it would only run in position A, not B. But crazy is I found a loose screw under the balance wheel. But I need info about there being hole jewels for the staff pivots, up and down. (My first 7750 journey).
@JDRichard
@JDRichard Год назад
If you look closely you will see that there is a jewel in a setting on the lower part of the balance which is the lower plate of the 7750 movement. Although I'm not sure if it has any shock absorption which is usually in the upper balance Jewel and cap Jewel

I read that the proper screw tightness is down snug the an extra screw slot width more.

Before you begin a disassembly do you put the watch in the chronograph start position? What about mainspring tension if you start removing train wheels, don’t they fly and the spring unwinds uncontrolled? I know pocket watches will do that if the mainspring is wound.
@JDRichard
@JDRichard Год назад
You should remove all tension on the main spring, however, the parts will only fly if you take the pallet Fork out and the bridge in the top is gone causing everything to be free. You should always remove the tension in the mainspring before you start working on a watch. I believe I did this for this watch or as you said, the watch will spin out when the pallet Fork is removed and that is usually not a good thing. Finding out how to relieve the tension on the mainspring on some watches is tricky but on this watch is pretty simple because there is a click spring. On some pocket watches that are more than 100 years old you need to find the click spring that is usually under the barrel. And then you depress that through a hole in the side of the movement.
@jftman53
@jftman53 Год назад
I also have opened a Heuer chrono 7750 in a Carrera. I removed the chrono centre seconds hand and the pipe became loose. A staking set can fix this but I lost the pipe!! Can You recommend how to source the tube or pipe? I believe stick is available that can be cut to length.
@JDRichard
@JDRichard Год назад
I think the only place I could possibly find one of those is at cousinsuk.com. It’s actually a really good site it’s where I get most my main springs. I also get other things like specialized tools etc. and because I’m Canadian I don’t have to pay brokerage fees from the UK.

Very nice, great video, thanks Richard. Is the dislodge and/or jam on these related to trying to set the date when the watch is between 10 and 2 position? I read that this causes some issue, is that true? I have a Breitling with this issue, 7750 ETA, and I am not confident enough for a teardown. Although your vid makes me think, go for it!

I TRIED to do a perfectly fine 7750 once. No Bueno. Big-time mistake. It was a quick way to make a $2k watch cost $3k. LOL

@@givemethemusicd that’s actually pretty funny. Hopefully that cost wasn’t their cost and tools and instruction before you you’re able to repair or service this watch.

I bought the same movement holder and the one I paid less than some others, came poorly made. So I didn’t buy the really high cost one, and this has a lot of wobble when I screw down the hand pivot support screws. In fact if I done have the as high as possible I can’t get the pivots in. I locate as if I am installing pivots into the bridge plate, then raise them enough to get the watch settled in the base. This wobble, being either bad threads or the hole out of tolerances, ends with me thinking it is useless to run the watch for testing while in the holder. Since how do I know if the supports are rubbing on the side of a pivot. Even after final assembly and those screws are backed off. Not happy with my purchase.
@JDRichard
@JDRichard Год назад
Cuz you could see mine works fine. I did actually buy two of these movement holders for the 7750. They seem to be both well made. I'm not sure when you say the pivots whether you actually mean to pivots. I think the correct tool for the correct job is necessary when working on these high-end watches
@jftman53
@jftman53 Год назад
@@JDRichard To observe any wobble as the protruding stems for the chronograph sub dial hands and center seconds hand, back out the screws of the holder and put the watch into the holder. Turn it over and look into the hole and screw up the screws that are designed to move onto the stems for each screw. My movement does not move on center, the end with the opening in it wobbles in an eclipse , not true. This can therefore cause rubbing, and any running of the watch while in the holder can cause friction and make the watch stop. I do believe these screws are designed to add support when doing some repair work and fit down onto the stems. While testing they would surely be raised off the bottomed out position to run the watch without added friction. My movement holder shows that when raised off there is no assurance that the stems are not free from rubbing, bcuz the holes or threads or both are sloppy and out of tolerance. The movement holder is sold by various sellers for a wide range of cost. They all look the same to me……

Dear video creator, hello! Please tell me, what is the height of the shaft (rod) on the ETA 7750 (7753) model? Overall, height 7.9mm, diameter 30mm. I want to put this mechanism in my watch, but I don’t know if the height of the shaft (rod) is suitable.

@@us-hamza That's the crown stem. They're supposed to be cut to size, as watch cases can be of various sizes. You need to remove the crown from the stem, cut the side with the threads (after measuring, of course), and screw the crown back on.
