first census in India by Britishers was done in '1872' under Viceroy Lord Mayo but the first complete census was done in ' 17 Feb 1881' by Census Commissioner W C Plowden

In 2003, Sikkim became the first state in India to officially announce the adoption of organic farming to ensure long-term sustenance of soil fertility, protection of environment and ecology, healthy living and decreasing the risk of health ailments.

Sikkim became the first State in the world to become fully organic and other States including Tripura and Uttarakhand have set similar targets. Lakshadweep is the first Union Territory to become 100% organic.

Census in INDIA was started in 1872 by viceroy Mayo, and the first complete census was done in 1881.
