Biggest tip from me: At the beginning enjoy the game, mess around and have fun. I’m sure that many veteran players will agree with me on this, but the game is more fun at the beginning.
Another 2 cents for beginners: Be polite, not all players have alot of time to play. If someone is making a trader delivery, a bounty, a moonshine delivery, don't just attack them because you think it might be fun. They just spent real time gathering supplies or whatever and you could botch the whole thing, it's called griefing, not cool. If your not making money, gold or xp your wasting time, which if fine, but don't waste someone elses. Keep it fun folks!
@@itsdpmf Still, it's best to be polite they're just saying to beginners that you shouldn't disturb others, plus if they do, it can turn out into a long drawn gunfight
@@junhyunds it's best to buy explosive Ammo and travel in a posse if you're that worried about your delivery. Also get good at shooting and also learn how to judge what the Blue Dots approaching you on the map are doing so you can better prepare. You not having any time to play shouldn't be other people's problem. The game Wants you to get attacked for your goods. That's why your wagon is visible for a long way out. Nobody bothers me when I create a Persistent Posse and load all my long guns with Explosive Ammo. People approach and see a Blue Star and they assume I have people with me. I also start my delivery from San Luis River Campsite. Almost nobody plays in Tumbleweed
The best tip I can give for beginners is to quit now before you put in 600 hours buy literally everything in the game get emotionally attached to this masterpiece and have your heart broken because they abandoned it. Learn from my mistake.
@@deznutes6689bro this comments a year old, and it’s valid to be upset if a game u love is abandoned by developers. Maybe not crying but still his point is valid stop finding problems in other folks opinions it’s just rude for no reason.
Since this game got put on ps5 for free, I jumped back on after two years. I'm level 500, 100 grand and 500 gold bars. All I do is help new players make money. I forgot how good it is even though I abandoned it too. Ps5 has a surge of new players.
Happy to see you are still making guides for beginners in the unbelievable state of the game the one you made a year ago really helped me out as a low level keep it up really enjoying the content
A trick I did for quickly upgrading ability cards is to equip the ones that need xp right before you get payment for role tasks. Like right before you pull in to the yellow spot with a trader delivery or bounty or right before u sell collectible sets. U can even do it while completing a daily challenge and definitely while you're wandering around collecting. You get a good chunk of xp for every collectible you find too. Especially if u take advantage of a role bonus, it will fill up those cards quickly. And you're making cash in the meantime for the purchase.
Yep, great tip to always switch to the ability cards you want to rank up before delivering moonshine, trader wagon, or selling items/collections to Madam Nazar
Big tip: Go unlock the Blood Money missions, go to Anthony Foreman, go to the Stagecoach holdup mission, go to the jeanroke or whatever it is map and turn on the treasure map locator. There are five spots in the Heartlands that make a circle where treasure maps spawn. Once you find it, take it either from the tree or the treasure hunter and immediately close the app. Wash, rinse, repeat.
@@gabesaadetian5669 Not personally but if you search for the following... "Rdr2online rhubarb glitch" it'll explain same context as what this guy is on about... another way to farm money 'legally' speaking without cheating. Hope this helps.. I realise it ,ay not
@@gabesaadetian5669 don’t so glitches. Once you make money in this game you rob yourself of the true experience. You’ll soon be wearing black and gold outfits and griefing people because you rushed the damn game. Stay away from these people recommending glitches and money cheesing.
A tip on weapons with variants - for example, there is a bounty hunter variant of the bolt action rifle, which has slightly better stats, but prevents you from equipping other upgrades and wraps. Go the variant menu, move the selection over the variant (you will see the stats increase), and press ESC. The model will revert to the standard variant, but it will keep the upgraded stats. Feel free to equip any upgrades after that. Same works for the trader shotgun, and should work for any variant weapon. Also, there are many videos on how to do the Etta Doyle legendary bounty without firing a single shot. If you wait for 30 minutes (just browse the web on the side, but make sure to move a step once in 13 minutes to avoid idling), you get 0.48 gold, a few hundred in cash, 1500xp, 1500 bounty hunter xp. Currently, there's a bonus on bounty hunter, so right now it's 3000 xp each. Easy leveling, and you can repeat it an hour after finishing it. I can second the importance of doing daily missions regularly. Pick the easiest one, get it out of the way, then complete as many others as you like. With the first or second streak level, it really does increase the gold payout to a useful level, and requires about 10 minutes of gameplay a day if you want to keep it to a bare minimum.
@@astroterf. maybe you play for the feel of the game when most of the community want real content, like what pvp cat said it’s literally a pointless grind.
@@usmanfrankly that's an endless circular argument though, because 'the community' can't even decide what content it wants, lol You could be onto something with your first point though, I'm 99% housebound through injury and certainly can't ride anymore, maybe I'm living through the game which probably isn't particularly healthy 🤣 Pointless grind I can see that... I'm sitting at $900k, 3,500gb and absolutely nothing to spend it on, but I still get satisfaction from completing sets, resetting buckles yada yada yada...IF I ever get bored I use NPC's as footballs for a while lol
i'm very new to RDO, so much so that i kinda gave up a few months back but I have the urge to try again, but wasnt feeling too confident (i'll be doing solo, dont know anyone who plays plus im an introvert.) i'm 2 mins in and already got pen and paper writing notes. thank you so much.
Online mode is more fun for me who wants to free roam instead of having to be forced into a horse riding mission from a to b for minutes and minutes. Missions are boring and online is better in terms of weapons, horses, outfits, hunting, fishing, basically every ascept besides side missions and story missions is better in online
Story is fun but I never even finished chapter 3 even tho I have over 500hrs on rdr. Online free roaming is just so good. Theres always fun to have and you can always group up with some other random players just for that day to play
When I first tried the game in 2020, I got attacked a lot and I didn't enjoy the experience. A few days ago I wanted to give it another try and I simply can't stop playing, it's a really special game. Thanks for the tips, very useful video!
I have over 200 hours in rdo and i wish i had a guide like this when i started. Fortunately i was blew away from this game bc i love how it works and this wild west style. Even though it was hard im so glad i decided not to quit.
Just got this game for Christmas so it's all new to me.. nice to see a recent beginners guide! Very helpful as this is all very overwhelming at first, thanks!
Some useful tips in here even for veterans. Very in depth guide. Funnily enough I'd never actually triggered my two factor authentication all these year's on my account 😅
Wow, all these years and your still making informative, entertaining and accurate videos. Big tip #1 for new players, even with Defensive on, if you see some players coming at you with lasso, run away, they are most likely up to no good. #Tip 2, if it starts raining animals, ships, explosions, or someone wants to give you gold, leave session, log off and restart, someone is messing with you! Still happens:( Question#1for you Cat! What message comes up if a player is looking for matchups to complete online story? I would love to help new players with stories but have been hesitant to join free roam invites. Played through story first, thought online play was just deathmatch, how wrong I was. Always felt online should be available only after playing through a certain level of singleplayer story just to let players learn basic mechanics and how cool the game is, but your vids make online play much more enjoyable. From Delaware USA, wishing you and yours all the best Cat and thanks once again.
So how do other players know to be put in story mission? I've personally had some very helpful players join me way back when. I'm a bit embarrassed that with over 1600hrs in this game I still don't know;)
I absolutely believe everyone should play the single player story before online. People who jump into online waste so much resources and real time for a very long time. Also, the SP story is incredible
Awesome Cat , I learnt sooo much from your 1st tutorial , I hope new and old cowboys also learn from your accurate, well studied and proven, gameplay tutorials. Thanks bro !!
More tips: If you're good with the bow from the story, I suggest buying the improved bow and the arrows. I started over after having left the game for quite a while (the last time I played was when server issues were still a major problem and the lack of wild animals), after starting my new game I bought the improved bow and beat several missions that way. It saves bullets and it's possible to retrieve arrows after making a kill. Also, when killing most hooved animals, deer, elk, ram, (with the exceptions of bison and boars) you can just chase them down on your horse, lasso them, get off your horse (automatic), walk up to them while keeping them lassoed, and then killing them. Save bullets, avoids issues if your aim is off (since unlike in the main game you can't do a kill with a knife and keep their stats up if you injure them) and it's just a good alternative even if it's a slower one. Also, buying the tonics isn't really necessary because you can find them in houses and off of dead bodies, you can even loot the bodies of npcs left behind by other players while they're doing a mission.
Instead of using cinematic to travel to treasure locations which are on the other side of the map. Press start. Go to the online tab. And scroll through the options.. new hanover, etc. And click on it for a free fast travel. The only thing is that it switches the lobby. But it saves a lot of time
thank you so much. I've had rdr2 and rdo for a few years now and ive always wanted to get into rdo but i was never able to enjoy it until i followed this guide. I made a new character, fully leveled up my horse, and am roaming doing really cool missions with cameos from van der linde gang members that i never knew were there :)!
The timer thing has always confused the hell out of me. In 99% of the games, the faster you complete a mission the bigger the payout. It's quite ridiculous to me that RDO goes the other way. No wonder so many new players are completely oblivious to this fact.
Tried to play the game for the first time in months yesterday. After about 20 mins I turned it off. Hunting wagon won't spawn, and when it does, you can't use it anyways. Can't use your stables either. Hardly any animals spawning, and server kept crashing and sending me into another constantly. Lot's of other stuff too. I know people have come up with work arounds, but mine is to not play this again until they fix things. Which probably means never. Thankfully I've been spending my time playing Elden Ring. It's a masterpiece!
I just deleted my level 101 char. Started fresh. I’m trying to immerse myself as much as I can. I’m wearing my pants over my boots, trying to dress more like a city outlaw. Not planning to rush through roles anymore. I’m actually staying away from roles. The only one I’ll buy is probably Bounty Hunter. I will defo not get Collector anymore. That’s a trap to money cheesing. Also planning not to rush into Martelli’s storylines because those are also a get rich quick path if you spend at least 15 minutes every mission. So for anyone recommending take it slow, take it glaciar slow. Play some poker. If you win, go get a fancy outfit (no full black or gold shit please). If you lose, start a damn brawl in the saloon. The storyline in RDO also takes you through most scenarios so you can decide what type of player you would be. In my last playthrough I started doing missions for The Kid. After that I changed my appearance and clothes and started being a menace just like him. Only doing low honor missions and robbing fancy looking carriages with lockboxes in the back. Have fun with it. This is not WOW it does not have unlimited content and money is very easy to get. Once you start making money it’s all super easy and the fun is gone.
When I had started to play this game online. After getting out of the stable, I was bombarded by a cheater. I had to restart the game and my horse was dead. Then I went to my camp and saw other players there. I went to say hi and 1 of them started to punch me over and over. Then I ran away from there. Met 1 high level player who took me in his clan and invited me to his Moonshine shack and I was like wow (Later I came to know that he was doing his daily task and using me). After that he kicked me out of the clan and his moonshine shack and it was dark night in tall trees. I saw 1 dude extreme high level standing on top of a big rock where it was impossible to reach. He started to shooting at me and doing head shots. It was the most unforgettable experience ever. After that I went to the main screen deleted my character and started a new single player game. 1 and half month later, I thought of giving online game a try. I created a new character and this time a female character. 5 months down the road I am 300 level bad a**!!! 10 unique horses!!! All roles maxed out!!! Helped every individual those who needed!!! It was a good and horrible experience at the same time. Horrible made by the cheaters and people using paid mods (no I won't call them hackers, as they are insult to the hackers). Beautiful as its RDR 2 prequel!!! Edited: 16:58 that never happened to me!
I just started playing RDO recently, and honestly the community is way less toxic than I had heard, at least on PS4. I think I have only been aimlessly killed twice. For the most part people don't mess with me even if when I don't have defensive mode on.
Every single time I see one of you RU-vidr say that this community is very nice I always think back to every single time I go to Valentine or saint-denis and get attacked
I played call to arms for hours after I bought the enhanced bow and first person is a blast. Can on my solo to wave 4 but damn it's how I've been leveling and building health bar. Makes me get good at the combat.
The beginning of this game is the best part because u expierence all the wild shit u can find in this game for the first time For example finding a legendary animal or unlocking that one weapon u have been wanting for ages
Wow thx for all the tips at the beginning , I just started playing online and you made my life a heck of a lot more easier that I deleted my first account and started from scratch. First time I couldn’t get anywhere, after you I finally am making some progress. I was getting frustrated and had no idea what I was doing , Big thx and you got a sub from me keep up the great work. 🎉
This is gonna blow up once gta 6 is out and we finally get the 60fps patch. Just remember the most important thing: the game is a lot more fun if you actively pretend to be a cowboy. What that looks like is up to you.
Like, WOAH!!! That tip about the free community stuff in the menu & how to get it free even if your low lvl with the slick Rick gold switcharooni to the poonie…. That’s just efficaciously bodaciously excellent my dude!!! Thank you very much! And remember, be excellent to each other and party on duuuuude!!!!
Thank you for the very easy to understand and informative video. I was quite overwhelmed as I hadn't played red dead online in years, but this helped me get back on track and taught me a lot.
I just came back to the game for the first time in years. I never got very far but i came back to the game with the bounty hunters license and 29 gold so im gonna have some fun.
man, at least on PlayStation the community isn't friendly at all. I play mostly in defensive mode and still get randomly griefed by players with dynamite or explosive ammo consistently on a daily basis. Big ol pain in the rear
man, i get it. but, don't you worry- there's some sweet fellas here even now in the playstation community. try to keep your head up, maybe at some point you can make some pals!
The reason I enjoy rdr2 online the most is compared to gta online people actually keep it cool with you and don’t randomly kill you or grief, sure you’ll run into the odd one but it doesn’t happen as often as it does in gta online
If you feed ur horse sugar or sweets, u will gain 5 XP for horsebonding instead of only 1xp with hay and such. Another red dead RU-vidr showed it a while ago. Thought it was neat
Hope you've tried the story, my favorite singleplayer game of all time. If you do, play all the side quests, that's where the real fun is. I'm jealous, would love to see everything for the first time again. 2 playthroughs here;)
This is a tip for gold and money:get a posse a lot of them have trader and moonshiner and bounty hunter so they do them with the posse iff u see a moonshine hut keep the posse because most likely they have bounty hunter so get a posse it’s worth it
