Found this video searching for information for black iron pipe for natural gas installation in a residential home. I was always confused as Home Depot here in the States sells both Black "Iron" and Black "Steel" fittings and I never knew if you could mix the 2. Never realized Black "Iron" is not really iron and is really steel. Glad I found this video - even 4 years after it was uploaded! Thanks for the information!
Im in WV and am the only guy in my town that will plumb nat gas lines. Loved the video. If you have any advice for someone starting to out on their own business doing this, please,Im all ears.

I prefer Pipe dope, over tape any day, I wear cut resistant skin tight rubber gloves, because yellow pipe dope is hella messy and once on your hands then you touch dirt, then you have black hands for the next day or two haha. The tape is a total pain in the rear especially in tight areas, you get it wrapped backwards and DO OVER! Hahaha. I wear super tight black gloves, just in case a pipe has a nasty burr, I've been cut pretty bad before on pipe thread, aslo the yellow pipe dope gets all over the gloves, I just throw them away and put on new, I have an entire box in my truck.
Adding pipe sealant with tape allows for added protection from leaks. Pipe sealant will fill any of the gaps that were missed by the tape. As far as we are aware, there is no way to stretch/flare a threaded Schedule 40 black pipe nipple. What you would need to do is to utilize either a bushing or a reducer, you would just need to determine if you want female or male thread. If you want to see the range of products we have available, you can see it here: greggdistributors.ca/search?q=U10&resp_group=Default,Variations,ItemProperties&page_size=8&view=list&terms=CatPage:U10
In America I believe the¹y use iron pipe or forge steel pipe. If the pipe is rusting internally as water is passing through is there anything you can use to stop this.
Subject looked interesting, but I stopped watching at 1:43 because I can’t stand the crappy music. If you release a version of this video w/o the background noise I would watch. Til then I’m gone.
