To the people that cant find aerialite in the underground. This video was made before the update that changed aerialite. Now it spawns in the floating islands
You can get a really good staff in the goblin army event. It shoots a very fast laser that deals around 8-9 damage. It shoots extremely fast (like 2-3 shoots per second) and inflicts a cursed Version of the on-fire debuff, which deals a lot of damage onto of everything else. If you miss the laser, it split into around 8 short ranged lasers (looks similar to a star), which makes it great for kick slime, as you can very well kill his little slimes with a few missed shots.
Little extra here: If you like to take your sweet time pre-boss, I'd recommend getting the amber staff. It's been changed to a rapid three-burst staff, which makes it about on par with the diamond/ruby ones (all of these staffs pierce, btw). _Besides, you need it for the Night's Ray anyway, so why not get it out of the way?_
@@lepaleissen that kills entire thing of being a class, you cant just use other class items if you want, thats some kind of challenge not to use every overpowered item and either be summoner or whatever class you picked. Just for fun
doing my first death mode playthrough on mage and so far everything in this guide helps but dont be a afraid to vere off of the guide and explore the many weapons that calamity has to offer!
Here's a great tip. Once you get to post plantera, get the spectre staff. Its damage has been significantly buffed and is rediculously broken right now, and will basically carry you past Moon Lord.
Another very good weapon pre-DoG is the Eidolon staff. It drops from Eidolon Wyrms in the Abyss. They are about medium difficulty to kill (I could just be bad at this game) but it is well worth the battle. I ended up replacing the Phantasmal Fury with it.
@@platypus96175 yeah, and it’s very useful when you’re fighting bullet hell bosses where you need all of your focus going to dodging. also, the reduced mana usage is good and if you upgrade it with the star clock you get the the mana cloak which is very good.
Pre mech: You dont need to use palladium armour specifically, crystal assassin armour has a dash which can replace shield of cuthulu slot, mollusk armour provides around double defence but cripples movespeed (cryogen/twins need movespeed so dont use for them), statigel set provides more damage buffs but has less defence than hardmode sets, cobalt set is good if you are confident at dodging with movespeed buffs; Demon wings or angel wings provide buffs in calamity, angel for survival, demon for more damage; You can upgrade your mana flower with a celestial magnet or star cloak. Alternative weapons: the Poseidon dropped by hard mode giant clam has homing and piercing properties (it moves kinda slow though so it shouldn’t be used on queen slime/spasmitasm; The serpentine dropped by the sea serpents (sunken sea) allows for lots of control whilst aiming and can hit bosses multiple times per snake; The slithering eels dropped by acid eels (post aquatic scourge acid rain) works similar to the serpentine with higher damage and created projectiles; The nimbus rod should be used because its just free damage; The crystal serpent is a great weapon but its a fishing item so maybe dont bother; Seething discharge is a tome dropped by brimstone elemental which fires multiple projectiles; Burning sea creates homing projectiles when its main projectile hits water, you can use bubble blocks or the ocean;
I was playing Mastermode + Deathmode as mage. I used this guide until pre plantera and struggled to defeat Calamitas Clone. Instead of Brimrose Staff, use the Valkyrie Ray. Way better dps and much better match with adrenaline.
@literallyadeathkorpsofkrie4413 The thing with SHPC with bosses that fast is that its hard to deal more consistent dps against the calamitas clone herself. HOWEVER, the SHPC against the brothers and calamitas herself when she gets the crows around her is AMAZING, especially with adrenaline
I was about to do a mage playthrough and then I saw this video and so I decided to start a mage class playthrough when this video came out and it helped so much. Best mage guide👍
Instead of Daedalus armor maybe try hallowed, you can easily fight destroyer after all 3 mech bosses are defeated, after all 3 hallowed bars are dropped, and hallowed armor has slightly less defense, but gives more damage and more mana.
after you go kill cryogen and get the frosty NPC dude you can get the cryophobia weapon which can deal some pretty good damage compared to some others you may have. you can kill the mechs, aquatic scourge, brimstone elemental, and even calamitas clone and plantera. The only downside is you need to some room for it to spread out but overall very nice weapon.
Extra notes: Pre WoF/Slime: on a corruption world the alternative to the carnage ray is the Nights Ray which is useful as it can chain hits off of the hungry to hit WoF; in the abyss you can get a weapon called the black anurian (you can get this right after skeletron) which fires several homing projectiles, useful for the slime gods as you can just focus on dodging; if you are using a weapon at a close-ish range to the boss(s) you can use the mana polariser (dropped by slime god) which provides specter-lifesteal; not mage specific but make 4 block gaps between your world evil biomes as they spread faster in hardmode; You can fight the WoF in the brimstone crags as there are no buildings to clear
I have some suggestions I think would help: -One would be, if you are a more agile player, trading the shield for the counter scarf, it grants a dash that when dashing into enemies or projectiles, you will dodge the attack and take no damage. -Another one would be making celestial magnets out of treasure magnets you find in shadow chests. You can combine celestial magnets with mana flowers and magic cuffs to make better accessories, which then turn into something better, this could also open another slot in your accessories, effectively giving you a free slot. Also if things say material, don't be afraid to go the guide and give it to him to see what it makes, it helps 10/10 times. -Turning your sorcerer emblem into celestial emblem as soon as you get into hard mode -Other than that, go crazy in your playthrough and have fun, Love the videos brome, been watching for a while

why didnt u put nuclear fury in ur pre providence section? its super good for all the bosses u need to kill (except for maybe providence) and is generally the best general use weapon cuz of its homing, its super good for the rest of the bosses cuz it has a low mana cost and lets u focus 100% on dodging rather than aiming, for providence sure since shes so big u can just hit her with the elemental ray and thats better but still
i say use hallowed/chlorophyte instead of daedalus, the dodge from the hallowed armor is really good. Brimflame is good on leviathan and astrum aureus, but for golem, i usually use spectre.
another good pre-polter weapon is magnetic meltdown if your fine with the mana cost, i tried it myself and it had higher dps than both recommended weapons, its crafted with dark plasma, magnet sphere, and spectre staff, and you can even get it pre-providence if you're fine killing ceaseless void first
the stuff thats on there is what you should have when youre done with the stage of your game, if you cant beat slime god with aeralite youre just bad lol
The video is fairly outdated. For golem, you should use the Hadal urn. The accesories are fine For pre plantera, use the slithering book (I forget name)
Just wondering, why do some accessories get added well after they’re available? (e.g. replacing rampart of deities with darksun ring only at endgame when darksun ring is post dog) other than that, great video! ive been doing a mage playthrough recently and while this only came out late into my p.t. it still proves helpful!
If you're still wondering, its because rampart of deities is useful for bosses like exo mechs and supreme calamitas where theres a lot going on at once
Alright so im new to calamity but I found a mage weapon called the magna cannon and jesus its so damn good I cant recommend it enough I used it for most of the bosses in prehardmode that are pre skeletron I think it was desert scourge crabulon eoc hivemind and eow thats as far as ive gotten so far I beat hivemind and eater yesterday and im still using it you make woth obsidian and some other stuff granite i think is an ingredient im not 100 percent sure but I know theres obsidian you can make it pre bosses and it hits so hard Update: I beat the wof and I stopped using the magna cannon around the skeletron fight as I replaced it with the tomes from slime god because I did slime god first then skeletron but I imagine the magna cannon would be fine for the skeletron fight but i would replace it afterwards
also infernum adds weapon called kevin. its magic weapon that is so op it has more base damage than universe splitterm having 30k base damage with damage mage setup it has stable 1m dps destroying boss rush
You can get magic cuffs, mana flower, terraspark boots, and cloud in a bottle pre boss quiet easily since reaper shark exists and goblin invasion isn't a boss.
I recommend getting hadal urn once you defeat calamitas clone. In my playthrough it out dps every pre-plague bringer weapon it is a upgrade to the funni frog abyss weapon
Thank you so much i'm playing expert and revengeance calamity and i didn't knew about this weapon, it helped me so much, it is my firts time playing calamity , first time playing modded terraria, first time playing a difficulty above journey and first time playing mage too, i killed leviathan firts try, plantera and other bosses with this weapon, now i killed yahron and i'm using yahrin crystal, i just need to kill calamitas , exo mechs and adult eidolon wyrm. Update: by a godly luck , i beated the exo mechs first try
I’m doing a msg playthrough and for plantera/calmtas u can use cryophobia it’s better then brimstone rose u get it from archmage it does like 200 dmg and way more aoe
This may or may not be terrible advice, but I haven't used the mana flower or it's upgrades at all. Currently at Moon Lord atm if that helps. But, what I do is I just rebind the mana pot to my middle mouse button and stack 300ish and it's never failed me yet lol In my own build, I've replaced it with the Mana Polarizer which gives more mana, 6% mana damage, and passive healing when you're using a magic weapon.
I can't make "Thunder Bolt", one book that is used to make "Tears of Heaven", I have all the materials and where, but the craft doesn't appear, of course if Calimity wiki it's okay, but I think that's not possible

Terraria Overhaul, changes how a lot of things work and is compatible with basically all mods. Boss checklist, great for knowing what bosses to do and when. Simplified calamity crafting (or something along those lines) if you don't have the time necessary to go on an all out grindfest

@@uberderpy3493 Also, a MUST HAVE for essentially Calamity is Recipe Browser(v0.9.6) and possibly Wing Slot Extra (v1.3.4) as it's just beautiful to have that one dedicated slot. I could also suggest a few shader mods, like the dedicated Calamity texture pack or "Lights and Shadow(v1.0.1)" and "Better Blending", makes everything blend in together.
im a bit late but there is a extremely overpowered post moon moon lord weapon, the last prism u have to farm moon lord a few times to drop it but it is insane for all bosses up to polterghast, then u can upgrade it to a dark spark after defeating polterghast which can be used for devourer of gods and possibly yharon.
i wouldn't recomend switching to aerospec armor as the only buff you get from it is a 2% magic damage increase from the jungle set and it has 2 lower defence compaired to the jungle helmet, so for anyone who reads this i would highly advise staying away from aerospec armor, the weapon is alright, the armor just isnt worth it for a 2% dmg buff when you can use potions as a substitute
Is there a better alternative? I literally just beat hivemind and im looking for some upgrades before i do skeletron I could probably make the jungle armor work but besides that and meteorite armor does calamity add anymore mage sets pre skeletron?
@@parkercoughlin2226 not sure, i just finished up slime god and im still using the jungle chestlate instead of statigel as i can sub the 4 lost defence with potions and get highwr dps bc of the 6% magic buff on jungle shirt
if youre struggling with boss rush or adult eidolon wyrm, use the ares exoskeleton you can get 10 summon slots from the demonshade armor, and 2 from the dark sun ring it makes things easier
I killed perforator as my 3rd boss after slime and eye with thunder zapper and jungle armor because i couldnt beat brain cause i didnt have any good weapons for the illusions

@@yourmomxdlmao Being the final boss doesn't make her harder than Draedon mechs. Literally EVERYONE knows that you kill Calamitas easier than the 3 exo mechs cuz those things are insane and broken O.o
i usually do melee (most of my runs) and whenever i do a different class i usually find it too hard and start a melee playthrough, ive only hd one successful playthrough with anither class and that was ranger
