That's me in the video.. I still would use this product. For your suggested use that would work just fine. I like the ability to remove my scooter batteries and bring them in to keep them charged during the winter. And that I can use it on all types of batteries.
The device is IP65 resistant, whenever their is double digits first digit is dust, 2nd digit is water. IP6 is dust resistant, but it is IP65 = Water resistant. “Protected against water jets from any angle”, IP65 is the same thing as IPX6.
@@dragonblogger No, IP65 is definitely not the same thing as IP6X As you say, the 1st digit is for dust, the 2nd for water ingress. If the letter 'X' is used instead of a number, it means the manufacturer is not claiming any performance level for that element of protection. So a rating of IP6X means the device has a high level of protection from dust ingress, but no guaranteed protection against water ingress. In fact the data sheet from NOCO itself states a rating of IP60 for this device, meaning little or no protection against water ingress. So this device should be used in a dry area only, well-protected from water spray and certainly water jets.
@@2albatrosses22 So the Amazon product page says IP65 clearly www.amazon.com/dp/B08F37P7H3 and NOCO Genius seller responded says it is water resistant not water proof, I can't get concrete information cause direct product page doesn't match Amazon product page for then clearly. As we got the product from their Amazon store and their Amazon page said IP65 we may have incorrectly overstated it's water resistant capability. I didn't notice it said IP60 until I pulled their Datasheet as you pointed out.
@@dragonblogger Thanks for the time you took to make your useful video. As I want to install the device in my boat where it can get wet, I am thinking of going for the Genius 2D unit which is very water resistant I think and can be installed permanently in a vehicle/boat. The D stands for direct installation I think. I may get two of these, one for each of the two batteries in my boat. Have you reviewed this 2D unit? Thanks again for the efforts you are making to do reviews.
@@2albatrosses22 We have not, we reached out to NOCO to see if they would ship us units and they did not want to work with us. Blake just happened to own this one personally and so he did a review on it himself with his own usage.
