SUMMARY 1. Parallel movt of Air wrt land are winds and Vertical movements are currents! 2. Pressure differences drive both, along the gradient , higher the pressure gradient higher is the wind speed. 3. pressure gradient develop as- wind goes up and gives low p ( due to high t at surface) rising of air, and where it falls down or sinks gives high pressure at surface. and as air rises up it gives cloud and this is called instability or bad weather (lp) , and clear sky is stability ( hp) similarly low p is associated with cyclonic conditions and clear sky is anticyconic conditions ( eg desert coz there air sinks down) 4. equator (lp) due to thermally induced stuff- 30 high ( forms hadley ) ,, 30 high - and 60 low - ferrel cell, +deserts are related with hp, clear sky, air subsidence ||| +frontal system from 60 high rises up and cold air comes from the poles. ( reason at 60 high is dynamically induced coz of earth movt) 5. No direct movement of these cells - coriolis force - RNSL ( runningless) check from high pressure always , high se low aate huye right| , coriolis zero at equator and hence wha pe jyada movement feel hoga, isobar ke 90 degree hoga always pressure gradient| , 6. easterly trade winds ( purvaiya) north east e -- to south west in north and se to nw in south hemisphere , off shhore winds associated with desert. north me right side gives right turn to westerlies ( pachhua pawan ) sw to ne in north hemisphere. ( subtropical low to tropical high ) 7. westerlies in south has less land to counter and speed goes very high due to unequal distribution of land and water, gives roaring forties, furious fifties and shrieking sixties. 8. high p at 90 to subpolar low at 60 high to low moves right and gives polar easterlies . 9. land and water not uniformly distributed, hence isotherms moves up to reach that isotherms , (land cools easily and water doesnt ) during january isotherm deviates to the north. over the ocean , zero degree at land and goes little up for zero degree on ocean . thank you sudarshan sir
