Congrats!🎉 You allways say "I am no professional by any mean" and then you work better than most professionals I know! (Even without fancy coachbuilder tools 😮) You give me the confidence that I am able to my projects too... Absolut respect for your work! I hope you have as much fun doing the work as I I have watching you do the work! 😂 Greetings from Austria

I'm so glad you commented on my post on Bay Pride Forum that led me to your RU-vid channel. I am restoring the exact same year bus! I love the videos as they show me what to expect as I cut out all of the rust. My bus was a Westy pop-up at one time, and I am converting to a tin top....lol.

Dang all this amazing restoration work just to get it to look normal. Jaa. Sucks people won't even notice the amount of work that went into to getting this bus to look regular. The normal person will never know, but as long as you get that satisfaction of knowing how solid your bus is as you are driving down the road. Damn I have to get a gas mig welder, looks like my gasless flux core ain't gonna work, but I will keep it for heavier metal work.

Nice video! A suggestion other than grinding tiny bits at a time for fitting panels, where/when its possible, cut your new part about 2'' bigger than the part/area you are repairing on the car, slap the new part over and cut both the new and old parts at same time. You will be left with a perfectly fitting new panel and 2 left over strips of 2'' that you can use as a backing sleeve to reinforce your welds if you are doing structural work! Great video! Lots of attention to details. You are more professional than many who claim to be!
@Vangabonders
@Vangabonders 10 месяцев назад
I’ve tried that but with panels like the rear corner it’s nearly impossible to perfectly overlap it with the old part just due to the shape and the lips on both sides. I have used that technique with simpler pieces before with good results. Thanks for the comment!

12:23. Don't sell yourself short. Your're definitely someone who takes the right steps in the proces. And obviously you do tons of research about the materials and everything involved. I'am really impressed with the level of quality and attention to detail. On a side note, maybe it is an idea to make a amazon wish list. for materials, grinding discs, tools, supplies etc. I would like to contribute to your project in that way.

FYI, that piece on the arch corner curved out when you flattened the flange on the anvil. The radius of that body line curve is set by the radius of that flange. When you hammer it out, it opens the radius onbthe face of the pannel. Without a shrinker, your best bet in the future is to slit the flange and trim off what bunches up when you flatten it. That steel has to go somewhere. Please don't take this negatively, your doing great! This is how we learn. Keep on trucking!

Aircraft stripper? I think they prefer to be called flight attendants. And you might get punched if you call them that. LOL jk, Love the vids man! Your videos have helped me get my ass in gear and get my bus on the road again. We're going on a 2,000+ mile road trip next week to the redwoods with ours! I'm putting solar panels on the roof, got a 12v fridge for cheap on the local classifieds , and we're hoping our power station (pecron e1000 pro, don't over pay for other brands) gets here before we have to leave Thursday LOL! I also got a queen mattress that is dedicated to the bus so we don't have to steal our guest bed mattress and make it smell like camp fire lol... I don't think I would have done all that I have without your videos! Hopefully one day I restore my bus like you are restoring yours! Keep on Keep'n on!
