i know it doesnt matter but you might want to clear up what you did with (-4/2) just in case it throws anyone off. Great example none the less!

As soon as I saw it as a homework assigned from my teacher, I freaked out. I came to your videos and understood in 3:48 minutes. You explain better than my teacher! THANKS !!!!

Your videos are amazing and incredibly helpful. Please keep up the amazing work. You're helping me through Calc II and understand the material better than the professor ever could.

Great job! Not so slow it's boring, but elaborates and leaves no confusion whatsoever.

so (1/2) of -4 = +2... I think you should mention it's the absolute value because that would = -2
@zcypret
@zcypret 9 лет назад
+Justin McNell (1/2) of -4 = -2. HOWEVER, you also need to square the result: (-2) * (-2) = +4

what if you have a problem like this one except the z^2 has no other z component? like if you took out the 12z from this problem so it would be x2+y2+z2=4x-8y+5

can you help me find conditions on A, B, C such that the equation represents a sphere x^2 + y^2 + z^2 + Ax + By + Cz +D = 0
@LazyLionStudio
@LazyLionStudio 13 лет назад
now what if you have X2 +3X + y2+ 2y+9/4=0 I got center as (-3/2, -1/2) and radius is r= 2.5 the fractions kinda threw me off but is this right?
@EmporerNapoleon
@EmporerNapoleon 11 лет назад
What if the value is odd... dividing by 2 gives you a decimal number and a fraction for your answer. There has got to be a better way.

what if I have (x+A)^2+(y+B)^2+(z+C)^2= - 41 ?? I know that the center will be (A,B,C) but what about -41? I cant take the sqrt of a negative number??
@alexanderwickstrom4531
@alexanderwickstrom4531 10 лет назад
You're right, an imaginary number wouldn't make a good value for a radius. At the same time, a negative number wouldn't either, so you shouldn't have the right side of the equation = -41.

Wouldn’t matter anyways bc later the “-2” would get squared and become positive. I think that’s why he just forgot about it

one half of a negative 4 should be negative 2, shouldnt it?
@hamsterhaunter5718

Yes but it doesn't matter at the end because -2^2 = 4 since (-2) * (-2) = 4
