Complete Tutorial w/ Demo for My Hero Academia CCG - Universus Card Game 

Thank you sir. I watched a bunch of different videos on how to play this game but left me confused. Your demo helped me actually understand how the gameplay works.

Just found this video and by far the best tutorial i have seen. My wife, daughter and I are almost caught up with the anime and it is amazing to see the CCG explained so well. Some notes from a former Magic: the Gathering player: 1. Commit = Tap 2. The enhance step works exactly like the stack (FIFO). 3. Character cards work like a combination of Commander (lead character that restricts deck building) and Vanguard (Modifying hand size/life and granting inherent abilities). 3b. The "Color" building rules are different from commander in that you choose ONE color from your character and all cards must match that color. 4. Foundations are either a. Non-basic lands that must resolve or b. Mana rocks that always have other abilities 5. Sealing turns foundations into basic lands for that turn; flipping turns them into basic lands permanently. I also want to say I adore the "addition" of blocking checks and attack vector (high/medium/low) to add combat complexity. I also appreciate how the gameplay mirrors the anime in the sense that it encourages you to push your limits and throw everything you have at your opponent. A five hand that plays every card, every turn is gonna burn through more cards that a seven that plays super conservatively. The check system adds a gamble to it but anytime you fight a powerful opponent you should feel desperate to win and risk something. Really excited to play. Would you recommend the midoriya vs bakugo or the all might vs all for one for a father/daughter who will primarily play against each other at home? I'm not worried about tournament viability or overt power as much as ease of learning and fun gameplay.

Great vid! Love the tip of just counting from your current card backwards to quickly determine difficulty. One thing though, if you go first, you're character starts committed, so you can't use it for checks off the bat.

Thanks a ton bro. I bought starters decks to learn how to play, but was so confusing to me coming from digimon, pokemon, and yugioh. BUT actually seeing it played while someone explains the rules has helped me understand much better.

NOTE: At 46:13 I played an attack and forgot to Check the Difficulty and make sure Dark Shadow Talon was successful. I was definitely supposed to! Also, the Character card for the 1st player STARTS THE GAME COMMITTED.

I'm still a bit confused because I just picked up this card game a few days ago, but genuinely, this video is a tremendous help. I originally saw there was one last Aizawa deck on the shelves of a local store (it was literally the last deck on their card game shelves) and I wanted to learn how to play it. The demo at the end of the video helped me learn a bit more and out of all the suggestions on RU-vid, this was the most insightful. I still don't quite understand how to combo and still need help with how to enhance or flip cards, but now I kinda know a bit more

at 27:15 dark shadow talon is currently at 5 speed flying thruster kick has a block modifier of 1 and your progressive difficulty should be +1 so shouldn't that mean you need to pass a 7 not 6?

During your battle step, when you play an action card (time 36:50) you don't have to "check" for it to see if it stays?

27:25 - doesn't the block pass become 7 due to progressive difficulty?

Question on deck building? So say if I wanted to build Tokuyami all of the cards need to have at least 1 of the 3 symbols on his character card? Like he has chaos, evil, and fire can the deck not be 20 evil, 20 chaos, and 10 fire as long as the 3 symbols are being used to build the deck?

just so you know in this game you put the cards on bottom to mulligan draw fresh cards and THEN you shuffle

What happens to the momentum cards ? What can you do with them

At 28:00 shouldn't the block attempt have required a 7 not a 6, due to progressive difficulty as you had a prior block in the card pool still?

You made an illegal play at 32:13 you can't play Enhances on card outside an attacks Enhance Step

Now I may be misinformed, purely because I'm an old school player but I haven't played in a long time. I played when the game 1st came out when it's out when sabertooth was was the original designer For ufs. Unless they changed a specific rule For deck building the only stipulation used to be that every card in your deck had to share at least one symbol with your character, Not that every card in your deck had to share at least one symbol all together. Like with allmight, The vast majority of your deck could have Earth But you could also have the all symbol or the goodsymbol on a card even if it did not have the Earth symbol, It just had to match At least one symbol on your character. But I could be wrong and they could have changed that
