I wouldn't worry too much about a bit of noise in the background... I personally wouldn't mind it at all! But if it really bothers you and you haven't tested it, I'd test a unidirectional mic; it might surprise you how much some cheap microphones can filter out if you put them close to you and turn them in the right direction...

Agreed with you on the paper quality of that Aeppol book. I bought it because I thought it will take the blending of water based markers nicely. Now know that I am not the only one! I will follow your advice on how to use Tombow and albrecht durer with this book. Thank you Shel!

Hi Shelly. Looking at the Christne Karron page, you said you used chalk pastels for the background. I struggling with getting even coverage with my pastel backgrounds, and getting around small details, can you do a video maybe on how you do it? Or do you already have one maybe in a color along that is already out there? Thank you 🙂

Isn't it weird the differences in paper? I pulled out my Rita Bermann "ocean" book last week and did one page using my Goldfaber WC pencils.. did amazing with the water, no problem at all, and I even went in really wet on the background. Then did the background of the next page with Posca, which should have been no problem at all, and it just fell apart like a house of cards lol.. pilling, warping.. a hot mess. I'm not even sure I can save it, I've got it closed and weighted at the moment hoping it will flatten reasonably. I may try a waxy pencil on the background to see if it will "seal" the pilling back down to the surface. I REALLY don't want to pencil that whole background though.
