You have made me think about loneliness...particularly loneliness even when you are married. Being a Creative, we have a built-in loneliness that cannot be cured. We don't understand it but it fuels our creativity. And only those who are Creatives themselves can have any sort of idea of what it is like to wrestle with a certain kind of loneliness. It's a moodiness, really. Thanks for the insight, Helen.

Yes, a built-in loneliness. I know I've called it 'creative loneliness' in the past. My husband is very supportive but I don't think you can understand it unless you are doing the same thing...x

Great advice. I am a writer, but I never think to keep a journal of life/daily events or anything that comes across my mind. And I totally see how this practice can spark an idea into a story.

I’ve been doing it for about 4 years and it’s made a huge difference for me.

Thank you for making this video. Your content is always so inspiring for me. You accomplish so much I’’m so surprised you feel like you are lazy. It really is that inner critic at work. You have amazing insights! I appreciate your honesty and vulnerability. Your writing is so real, that is how it touches so many people.

Thank you, Cynthia! I think I feel I avoid the stuff I 'should' be doing and also I feel very grateful for being able to do this so 'should' be more productive. (Notice the 'shoulds'!) x

I started a journal a couple of years ago after watching one of your video's and it really helped, then i stupidly stopped after some major life events. Really going to start again TODAY! Thanks Helen 😊

I find I can't journal when life is happening in a big way. It's great that you're coming back to it. :)

Thank you so much Helen for sharing all of these lovely insights. As someone who is still struggling to call myself a Creative, and feeling like creating systems for myself will somehow magically make things happen and make me feel more like a "true" Creative, this is useful to see. As I was watching, I jotted the following down in my writing journal: Morning Pages and Writing Journal - how are these the same? how are these different? Since I'm in the Artists Way read along NFBC, this is what surfaced for me. Maybe something to explore in our chats within the community. Thanks again!!!

Hi Erin. My morning pages are the streams of consciousness stuff. To be fair I would probably have written them in my writing journal before the NFBC but I wanted a dedicated space for them. In my writing journal I write ideas, sentences, notes, script ideas, video ideas, book ideas. When I eventually go through my morning pages in weeks to come I’ll write anything interesting or useful in my writing notebook. Hope this helps clarify but will explore more in the community if you like x
