In part one of the Dodge Roadster Repair series this 28 Dodge coupe turned roadster got completely stripped down right to a bare chassis and sent off to sand blasting. Now that it's in bare metal, you can really see the problems with this frame. Completely redoing the boxing plates, cutting out the front suspension and rebuilding, replacing crossmembers, squaring the rails, installing a 4 link rear suspension, modifying the ends of the frame horns, reinstalling the engine and trans with tubular crossmembers, setting the body back on and mocking up the grill shell all added up to about 2 1/2 weeks of solid welding and fabrication on this little red roadster... Well worth the time!! The new chassis looks great sitting under the 28!

Wow! That thing was flat DANGEROUS! Can’t believe someone thought that would ever be “OK”. You totally saved what many of us would have trashed! Thanks for sharing your work with us, your videos are great!

MAN; that chassis was rough before you started on it. Looks way better, and safer, now.

You are a badass! At the very beginning it kinda looked good until you showed all the terrible work. Just wondering why did the owner have you fix it instead of going with a new frame? I mean it's Now a new one but the labor involved had to be up there. Totally going to be a very nice car when you are done with it. Well done! 👏👏👏

Great restorative work. The sad part is that the guy that originally built the frame will see this video and likely wonder why you redid his work .....

If I remember correctly, I believe I put 200's on the rear. Felt great once the body was on. 👍

That original welding was the worst I've seen in a long time. I'm surprised they didn't snap off.

You are doing a great job repairing someone else's shoddy work and poor choices. While the frame was clean it would have been a good time to turn it into a true Dodge and installed a Mopar drivetrain in it. But I guess with all the restyling that is planned there will be very little Dodge left in it and it will just be another roadster, although a safer and more neatly finished one.

Problem is now that chassis and suspension is a pile of bits welded together,, in the right place. Not ideal. Rear suspension arms and bushings will be all bound up and will bend and or break those flimsy arms. Would not be so bad with heim joints but those poly bushings have such a small amount of available movement. Look at the size of an OEM bushing and arm

Wow, horrible was being nice, that frame was complete garbage, nice save and beautiful work, just hate that you had to put that teenager girl front suspension back on, it could have been a great car
