@@tahjanjoki2940 We have been feeding birds in the wither as long as I can remember and have had no problem with rodents to talk about, as it is now we have 3 cats so it might help a bit but even without cats there were not much of a problem. The birds needs help in the coldest part of the winter so we can have them around in the spring and summer to enjoy their song. Love from Sweden // Micke
So many things to thank you for...feeding the birds & squirrels. I'm 70 years old & no matter where I've lived I've breakfast & dinner for the outdoor critters come before I eat; the views of the midnight skies are marvelous; and I love seeing the the dogs at work and play. I have a suggestion for you. I watched a video of a very old lady living alone in a cabin. She actually trained her dog to fetch wood logs for the fire! Necessity can be a creative mother of invention. I wish you & Christine a magical 2024.
Your dogs are so gorgeous. I love how you capture their beauty. I'm excited for you to get these projects done. I love your little cabin. We are remodeling ours with our 3 kid's. We love our small, cozy space.
Please protect your lungs. And have you considered getting one of those plastic sleds that can help you transport items from the car to the house? It could help with grocery shopping. Love your videos
I follow Red Squirrel Studios out of Finland who feed birds and squirrels and video them so that I and my cats can watch them. It was nice to see old friends, Eurasian Red Squirrel, Great Tit and Willow Tit.
It was nice to see the process between the before and after - it's so much hard work but totally worth it, the results are great! 👏 Also it was great to see the magical Northern Lights and bird scenes in between - very calming and inspiring ✨☺
Hello dear Kalle, we had the same problems with the uneven floor in our old half-timbered house (built in 1830) - and then the thick paint / varnish on top of it. The blades of the sander clogged up directly because of the paint. My son then asked for an electric planer for Christmas and it worked really well! So we didn't sand the floor, but planed it very finely :-) Best regards, Diane
Wow, I can’t imagine the hard work it takes to not only take all the equipment from your car to your cabin but to also film it while doing it all that. You are truly dedicated. Absolutely amazing!
I’m so thankful for people like you who helps the feed the wildlife in these harsh winters. The floor is looking amazing. What a difference. Great job so far. Maybe if possible you should get a small snowblower to make paths from the main street and around the house to make things easier for you all. Keep it up.
Wow, that's a big job, not only carting your equipment by sled and your two wonderful dogs from your car to the cabin, but sanding the floors for 3+ hours. That's great how your friend helped you with sanding with his sander the next day. The Northern Lights, stars, and meteorites (?) are lovely above your snow-blanketed cabin in the woods. I'm sure that the birds and red squirrel much appreciated the peanuts you put out for them. Fun to watch them too! Jenny
My partner and I recently sanded what is now my new studio space in our house (an older home with uneven floorboards like you have). Sanding is so darn messy! Sawdust gets literally everywhere. Our project was complicated by a thick coat of lacquer that was applied about 75 years ago. It was a nightmare! I think the struggle makes you appreciate the finished product so much more though. Your room looks great! It’s always fun to see the before and after 😊. Thanks for another fun video!
Kalle, you and the girls are amazing. The physical labor for all three of you must be overwhelming, and yet everything fits seamlessly into your hard, but beautiful, life. Regardless of the topic of the video, you always bring me peace. May you feel that peace reflecting back to you . . . ❤
I can only imagine how long You Tube takes. Love your home, your wife/baby are surely grateful as you tackle some of these tough & dusty projects. Hope you get some masks and some rest when you can; your work ethic is beyond measure. Thank you for sharing your lives with all of us. Love how you're the bird whisperer too, the birds (and squirrels) came right out to enjoy some much needed snacks.
You just made me burst laughing with you winter joke about mosquitos!!!🤣 I never heard of a "whip cream" burger!!! 🍔yes cream is healthy but at a small proportion... but... you are young and burn a lot of energy in your work!!! Thanks for sharing your project progress... looking forward to see the floor finished!
You did a beautiful job on the floor! It was nice of your friend to help. You are such a hard worker. It was a relief to see you take some breaks. Take care Kalle!
The cabin and surroundings are so beautiful. It looks like you're very near where my farmor grew up, in Nordmaling. We visited there in 1977, and it was amazing. We were there in the summer, so got to see the 24/7 light, and someone riding their bike at 2 a.m. wrapped in a towel ! It's amazing to see the area where my grandmother grew up, and skied to school. There were 10 of them that survived to adulthood; 13 altogether. Sweden is where I find most of my cultural identity, since we celebrated Christmas with a very traditional Christmas Eve party with glögg, lutefisk, köttbullar, sill, etc.
Kalle! OMG... I really admire your total dedication! I personally would have only done a half-a$$ job with those floors... LOL!!! And I love that you fed the birds before starting on the projects for the day! My husband tells me you are more dedicated to feeding the birds than I am with our backyard birds... haha! I can't even imagine working in all that snow! 🥶I am from Ocean Springs, MS (Southern USA) and we panic with just a little bit of icy/rain/sleet mix 🤣🤣🤣Anyway, can't wait to see the next stage of this renovation! I love watching yours and Christine's journey! Also, can't wait to see that sweet little bundle of joy in April!!! 💙
Important insights. As we grow older we have less urge to over achieve and understand the beauty and importance of healthy breaks and guilt-free relaxation. Enjoy the process and these exciting times ❤
I really loved the slower pace of this video. A lot of outdoor scenery that is what first brought me to this channel. I really love when you mix the two things together, renovations and outdoor living eith your cinematic view to armonize it together. Great job and the cabin is looking really good! ❤
Congrats on the baby! Having children is the best thing ever! I was so sad to learn that that other Northern Swedish lady YTer is not going to have children. There is a crisis in Sweden where your population is going down of indigenous Swedes.. And such fantastic parents y’all will be, and she would have been. Oh my you said -23 C?????? How can you have your hands in the air even for a second! I am amazed.. Beautiful cabin and life you are building- I am, well not jealous, but struck with wonder and admiration.
@@anneofgreengables1619 Not at all. All over Europe the population is going down of the original cultures, and there is a ton of immigration from war-torn places.
Wow that was a lot of hard work but the floor looks amazing and again having that extra lighter tone makes the room look so much bigger. The radiator looks great too x
It's these moments of complete exhaustion yet filled with happiness of progress that are worth all the effort- Best place to sleep a little is in front of the oven when it's freaking cold inside our to-be-homestead while beeing covered in clay and wearing my husbands winter-work-coat and lying down on some 70's pillows that we found in the dusty attic while there's noise all around.
It fills me with tears, when I imagine that you do this for your little family. ♥️ So much effort, but it will be worth it when your little one arrives 🌷😊👶🏻
Great idea! Why didn't I think of this before. No need to go to the trouble to make semlor. All I need is a white bread roll, almond paste, and whipped cream! Thank you Kalle!
I’ve just stumbled across your channel and your enthusiasm for your surroundings, love for your wife and dedication to build a future is inspiring. Your cinematography for wildlife is amazing and it’s clear thrive in the this environment. ❤
As always, video BEAUTIFULLY DONE! Not only an excercise that you got from transporting all of the equipment from your car to the cabin, but changing the camera spots to record from different angles, wow, just wow! ❤❤❤
“COZY” bloopers!!! I find it so adorable how you two say COZY lol!!! I could so see a video of all the times you have both said COZY!!! Love it! Ive been bing watching since subscribing!!! So enjoying and LOVE you two! I’m Swedish living in USA. Miss my roots. Keep up the great work! Best wishes and happiness going forward 💕🌷🇸🇪
We live, we learn as we carry on our life’s journey. I’m now 70 and look back gratefully for all of life’s experiences including a lot of years in northern remote Canada Yup, I learned the value of a dust mask, snow as an insulator, too! Thanks for sharing!! Take care❤
If you need more heat in your cabin, change your wood stove into a Kanuk or Bullerjan ( bigger size) .Your stove send most of the heat out of the chimney. I grow up in a 250 year old wooden farm house with only one cooking stove in the kitchen( It was never cold in the kitchen) and I still own the old farm house. You can save wood and money when you have an effective stove. It is just a suggestion. best regards Tom
Thank you for sharing your renovation. I love it. The filming in the forest is amazing!! Good job. And please enjoy everything you are fancy for. You work hard. so celebrate too.
I had a home party business years ago and I would do little things like include a little gift in the bag of every person who purchased from me. Such a small gesture on my part made such a huge impact on my customers. It’s those little touches that mean so much. It sounds like you live near a town of some wonderful people and they are lucky to have you and your lovely sweetheart as part of their world. ❤
Oh my gosh, that is a lot of plugs in that one outlet! potential fire hazard(my husband is electrician, and just shook his head) Beautiful job Kalle, you are a very hard worker. Love your videos!
20:41 yes yes yes! Isolate with snow. I was tought this when I was a kid from my father. I helped him throw snow towards our cabin in Tornedalen and house in Luleå during winter and It truly can help keep youre heating "bill/costs" down and make it more comfortable.
Oh congratulations! I make RU-vid videos in a similar spirit as you about my life in the wild of North America and after over a year of living and traveling full time across the continent i've decided to get settled for the winter and am renovating my first "tiny home" and omg I can relate to your experience so much - how with projects like this you think you're just going to do one thing (like sanding the floor) and suddenly its so much more than you thought (realising that the floor is very unlevel). Oh, and how much longer it always takes than you think. Keep going and thank you for sharing your journey! Sending love to you and Christine from my little corner of the world to yours! 💙💙💙
The whole video is so peaceful and calming. You love for your dogs and birds and squirrels makes my heart feel the relaxing silence. Wish i can be there to help you with the work. I love carpentry in design and build renovating houses and cabins. If i can be of help from here just ask and i will be glad to talk to you. I love the way you take care of your family. 😊
Thanks so much for this video Kalle! We are planning to move to Sweden from South Africa in the future. Your videos are a great inspiration when our journey feels too difficult or long. Love your honesty and you sharing the realities of living day to day, not just the good and RU-vid click bait! Wishing you all the best!
With that amount of work, meditation is a necessity. I loved the sequences with the birds and the dogs enjoying the snow, so sweet. You did a great job with the floor, at least it's approved by Tuss and Nala ! Funny, that snack you had. Luckily you told us it was almond paste, I thought it was cheese 😄. Have a nice week !
That floor looked like a lot of work, the cabin is going to look beautiful when it's done! Here in Canada just got past very cold period -42 but with the wind chill feels like -50...yipe! Greetings from my polar vortex to your polar vortex Kalle, I'm a new sub to your channel, love you and Chris and the Dogs!!
Kalle, you are a hard working man!!! I think you can be a rollmodel for many man out there in the world. I also want to say how I loved the way you slowed down the camera rythm on the birds & dogs. You remember when you said in one of your videos how you almost get trapped in comparing yourself with other content creators? Kalle you are UNIQUE and ORIGINAL you are the perfect multifunctional character of your videos, so just breath and between the hard work don’t forget to enjoy the journey, eat some popcorn and watch a good movie🙂 our best wishes from Gothenburg. I didn’t want to write the text in swedish, just to make it easier for your followers. Det kommer att gå bra, tro på dig själv!
Projects like these are very demanding physically and take whatever time they "take". The wood is actually quite lovely and a bit of Osmo is all you will need. This is a lovely large room where many "family hours" will be spent.
Excellent work Kalle. You have the family soon and the house is nice and warm soon, too. Take care of you! Greetings in Finnish Lapland. The winter is hard time.
The floors are looking so beautiful already!! I remember doing the same thing on our cabin. And the crawling on the knees for days sanding down the uneven spots on the old boards. :) We have 3 rooms. And all the dust EVERYWHERE! If you will be doing other rooms -- there are much better masks to protect you from the dust. It's always fun to watch you work on projects. Your place looks so loved and more beautiful with each new iteration.
Hi there from Ontario, Canada. As usual I really enjoyed watching your video . What a beautiful Carĺ Larson style sofa Great that you are meditating You work so hard. Your lifestyle is not for everyone. but It is really fun to follow your channel. Love those beautiful huskies too.
This was so beautifully shot Kalle. Your dogs always have such love in their eyes for you both. Your kindness as people shine thru every episode. Bless you both for your hearts that are so open. 🌲🌿🌱
Kalle. . You are great . Everything you do for yourself and your family is fantastic. Life is short and we should use every moment and enjoy it. You are on the perfect path. Good luck and take it easy, think about yourself and rest a little along the way because your girls need you. Eat more, because you need strength. Greetings from Croatia .
For those who don't know semla. It's not just bread. It's a sweet bun usually flavoured with cardamom. For me it's a must to sprinkle powdered (confectionary) sugar on top as well!
I know exactly what you get through! We did that in our old Victorian house....of 2000 square feet. Lot of work but so worth it! Your floors are beautiful ❤
Love the snow and the scenery is stunning. I agree doing jobs when it’s 20 below is challenging😊 The sled and dogs 🐕 are useful and they are very good girls✔️ Lovely video
I loved seeing the birds gathering even before you had finished putting the nuts out. I feed our birds and can spend ages just watching them through our living room window. You’ve made a really good job of that floor and it really brightens the room up but I was a bit alarmed to see your guitar still hanging on the wall amongst all that dust!
I’m glad that you wore a mask while sanding the floors, which look marvelous now. The bird footage was wonderful as well as the aurora borealis. Friends like to help, and, no doubt, the opportunity to lend him a hand will arise, too. BTW What does reindeer meat taste like? Savor this time with Christine. You’ll soon be parents!
Floors are looking nice, I love the way the wood looks after being sanded really beautiful. if there is a crawl space under your cabin ,insulating the floors from under would make it warmer in your cabin.
Tuss and Nala are so beautiful and loyal to help you out! I’m sure you treated them with a warm meal of reindeer meat when the work was all done! Kalle, you are an amazing person to do all this so that the future of your family lives in a safe, healthy and proper environment! Can you wear gear to protect your lungs?!! Love how you tackle (albeit with a great sense of humour) your command of the english language. 🤓 Yes, ‘nooks and crannies’!!🤗🩷💖💜
