This song has always entranced me from the moment I made my way to Sorrow Pass on my first playthrough. The Ori games have such serene soundtracks that always have a lot going on regardless of tranquil or daunting they sound. This track is no exception, and while I had no idea what a shakuhachi was when I first heard the piece, now that I have one, I knew I had to cover it.
The arrangement is not very different than the original piece. I wanted to keep the original instrumentation, and while I had the shakuhachi part down, I'm obviously not much of a string player. I knew this piece deserved real string recordings, so I asked some friends and fellow musicians to help out, which lead to this! The final result ended up being far better than I would've been able to do on my own, and I'm very grateful to everyone involved. They all make their own covers on their respective channels that are linked above. Go check them all out!
