"You are...the Navigator!" Such a nostalgic film for me, loved this as a kid! Despite some of the eerie, darker undertones. And the soundtrack by Alan Silvestri is a winner too.

Nice! This one doesn’t get enough reactions. This movie and _Explorers_ are a couple of big favorites from my youth. I really wanted my own spaceship. Well, I still do. As for skipping 8 years into the future, I don’t think I really would have minded it all that much. The problem with the situation, as it was in the movie, is that you wouldn’t be able to just live your life with all the government researchers and such wanting to study you.

It has to be a self-maintaining (and self-navigating) spaceship. Otherwise, you'd have a headache about where to keep it and how to pilot it 😂 "People experimenting on you" comes as a package together with "skipping 8 years" I guess. Unless you're able to keep it a secret 🤫 Thanks for sharing your thoughts 😉

"I crashed into electrical towers and my star charts were erased. I need the ones in your head to complete my mission." "So you need ME and my INFERIOR brain to fly that thing?" "Correction, I need the SUPERIOR information in your INFERIOR brain to fly this... thing." Fun Fact: The film takes place on July 4, 1978 and in July 1986. Historical Fact: The red, white, and blue star on the NASA facilities was the Bicentennial Star from 1976, designed by graphic designer Bruce Blackburn, who also co-designed the NASA "worm" emblem. Theory Debunked Fact: The so-called "10% Theory" is a debunked belief (but still highly popular despite it) which claims that the human brain works only at the 10% of its total capacity and that gifted people with a high IQ are using more than the 10%. Casting Notes Fact: It was Paul Reubens's idea to make the identity of the actor providing the voice of Max a mystery and he was credited as "Paul Mall" instead. Despite rumors to the contrary, this is NOT Sarah Jessica Parker theatrical movie debut. Somewhere, Tomorrow (1983) was Parker's debut. Also not Joey Cramer's theatrical movie debut either. Independent Film Fact: This was originally an independent film. The main production company, Producers Sales Organisation, put up two-thirds of the budget, while the rest came from Viking Film, a Norwegian company. Walt Disney Pictures picked up all rights for this film for North America, becoming the first distribution deal for the studio under new management led by Michael Eisner. It's not even on Disney Plus. Speed Trails Fact: Phaelon is located 560 light years from Earth. David's flight to Phaelon and back took "4.4 Solar Hours" while 8 years have passed on Earth, indicating that time was slowed down for David by a factor of about 16,000, which corresponds to a speed of about 99.9999998% the speed of light. When MAX and David escape the NASA facility, they travel "precisely 20 miles from point of origin" in approximately 35 seconds, making their speed about 2,057 mph (almost 3,500 km/H). Location Location Fact: Sets for Dr. Faraday's (Howard Hesseman) NASA headquarters and David's (Joey Cramer) bedroom were built at a soundstage at Miami's Limelite Studios. The FAA Tracking Station for Southern California was the site of several scenes, while the interiors of assorted hangars located at Opa-locka Airport stood in for NASA property. Al's Alligator Farm, a general store and dilapidated roadside attraction, was filmed at the BR Horse Ranch, owned by actor Burt Reynolds, in Jupiter, FL. The Rest Of The Story Fact: One of the prop hulls was refurbished, and is now the topper of a drink station in Tomorrowland at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom. Joey Cramer starred in the crowdfunding documentary Life After The Navigator (2020) about the impact and legacy of the film and his life after he left his acting career. It was filmed a few months after Cramer completed his time in jail (in 2016 he was found guilty for robbing a Scotiabank in British Columbia and sentenced to a custodial term of two years less a day, as well as two years of probation).

I've definitely heard "humans use only 10% of their brain" before. But it's hard to believe, because different parts of the brain have different functions. If we only use 10%, we can't fully function. So the round trip between Earth and Phaelon was done at a speed infinitesimally close to the speed of light. That's interesting 😂. I wonder if our technology will ever reach that point. Oh? In the "20 miles" scene, a person mentioned the spaceship travelled at Mach 10 speed. That's over 12,000km/h (according to Google). It's sad to hear about young celebrities whose lives took a turn for the worse after they become famous. In some cases, children and teens are not prepared for fame and success. Thanks for sharing! 😊

I forgot that this was a salute to Pee Wee Herman, similar to one of the kids in 1987's OVERBOARD. I wonder if someone's alerted you to 1984's STARMAN with Jeff Bridges? It's more 'adult' in the characters, but there's the fun 2002's CLOCKSTOPPERS? Or 2008's THE MINUTEMEN? Then of course SAFETY NOT GUARANTEED (2012) a rather early Aubrey Plaza study in disbelief then conversion? All of these - along with this NAVIGATOR - deal with our disbelief then realization of the story's "facts". Lotsa fun.

I think it's fine for people to react to whatever films they want. It's more admirable than chasing views. 😊
