Thank you so much for explaining this as I can now understand my shutdown trauma after a Fawn response and the absolute terror to compliance behavior in childhood. Thank you you so, so much.
Exactly same for me!) I could not say more clearly, thank you! I just learned about Fawn and I understood that I read everything around in the non-stop mode (even can't work in cafe because I'm distracted with all the info i perceive) and when I go to the crowded place (and of course I continue do the same automatically) - as I went to fireworks, I literally shutdown, I was sensory overloaded with all these people from the crowd and sounds (and it's not Freeze response! as I thought before but I felt it's defferent) My current understanding that we all have all this 6 states (filght-flight-freeze-fawn-shutdown-cryforhelp) available for every person and can happen that we react different, but mostly we have our "fav" response that run in auto mode Until we don't use our autonomous system "to live", and use new cortex. On the new level we don't fall into all this responses So good we have now the definition of our state to get better. Thanks for the video, Justin! But I see how difficult it's for you to describe it, because maybe it's very far from you, you never had this response, I guess (and I'll search) can be much better explanation! At least I saw few videos that really opened my eyes for me at what I'm really doing, those were more clear and ps at the end you mixed everything...fawn, appeasement, freeze, shutdown ..it's too much to distinguish and make a video on the fawn topic
I'm 73. My first 9 years was in very remote bush Alaska. Unfortunately I now intellectually understand they were insane and sadistic and, yep I was the pain barer. Any hope for me? Fortunately I am pro active about health including mental health and have over 40 years of once weekly 'shrink' appointments. Adult Child stuff. But still the deep revulsion I feel about having FAWNED constantly to protect myself and the younger ones. Epic Shame Load. Thanks
